The Maa Trust Intern Child Protection Jobs in Kenya; The Child Protection Intern will support the implementation of child protection projects at The Maa Trust under the direct guidance of the Child Protection Coordinator and the Education and Child Protection Manager. This role is intended to provide learning opportunities while contributing meaningfully to activities that promote the safety, rights, and well-being of children and adolescents in the Maasai Mara ecosystem.
Key roles and responsibilities: Assist in the implementation of child protection and advocacy activities in schools and the community.
Help coordinate trainings on child rights, child safeguarding, and positive parenting.
Support the facilitation of school-based child rights clubs, including Maa Champions activities.
Assist in the mobilisation of communities for child protection forums, campaigns, and ARPevents.
Take part in documenting stories of change and lessons learned from child protection engagements.
Provide basic support in case documentation and referrals under close supervision.
Assist in maintaining safe and confidential filing systems for case records and activity reports.
Support in the collection of monitoring data using programme tools.
Assist with drafting summaries or reports of community or school visits and other activities.
Participate in planning meetings and learning sessions with the Child Protection and Education team.
Take part
in interdepartmental and stakeholder meetings, as guided by the supervisor.
Take initiative to learn and apply core principles of gender mainstreaming, safeguarding, and child friendly programming.
Assist in organising logistics for training sessions, field visits, and school outreach.
Support with printing, filing, scheduling, and general coordination tasks as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
A diploma in Development studies, community development, sociology and anthropology, psychology or counselling.
A degree in the same is preferable.
Creative, organized, and able to meet deadlines.
A team player with a passion for community development and social impact.
