Job Description

The Lutheran World Federation Word Service Ethiopia (LWF/WS Ethiopia) is a registered foreign charity which has been operating in Ethiopia since 1973 implementing various development and humanitarian projects in different parts of Ethiopia.

LWF is currently looking for a highly motivated and competent professional to fill in the Human Resource & Administration Officer post.

Key Responsibilities:

She/he shall:

  • Support the HR and Administration Manager in developing or revising of HR and related policies and procedures;
  • Comply with the HR policies and procedures, the collective agreement of LWF Ethiopia and other relevant rules and regulation in performing HR and administration tasks
  • Ensures that the LWF Code of Conduct adhered to by all staff;
  • Support on the development of job descriptions
  • Draft and arrange job advertisements and follow up the timely publication on sites or posting on other mediums as appropriate.
  • Receive applications from both internal and external applicants and shares the information with the selection panel members for short listing.
  • Ensure that the short listing is done on the basis of agreed parameters with line managers
  • Facilitate recruitment and selection process in consultation with the HR & Admin Manager.
  • Develop induction plan and ensure that all new staff receive proper induction on relevant policies and practices relating to their employment;
  • Assist and be responsible for all national staff contract management
  • Assist the office in coordination with the concerned unit in ensuring that every employee is
    given updated job description;
  • Facilitate the exit process of staff and ensure that the terminal benefits are paid out within the legal frame of the labor proclamation.
  • Facilitate training Need Assessment when necessary and propose the staff development areas for action.
  • Facilitate and supervise the completion of bi-annual or yearly staff performance evaluation and timely probationary period performance appraisals
  • Facilitate and assist on investigation processes on disciplinary issues are timely conducted and reported with recommendations in accordance with established rules and regulations;
  • Play a role in the maintenance of LWF/WS Ethiopia staff data and avail it to managers whenever necessary.

    Terms of employment is one year with possibility of extension

    Duration of Employment: Until 31 December 2019 with high possibility of extension

    Job Requirements


  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Human Resource Management, Management, Public Administration or other relevant fields with minimum of 3 years related experience for Bachelor Degree and 1 year related experience for Masters Degree

    Additional requirement:

  • interpersonal skills and ability to work with people of varying background and cultures;
    Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
  • Computer literate specially on data bases like Access
  • Ability to perform under pressure;
  • NGO Experience is advantageous
