Purpose:

The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization.

Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, stakeholder management and community outreach. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

General Responsibilities:

  • Organization Governance: Works with board in order to fulfill the organization mission/mandate by;
  • Leading the organization to achieve its mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Communicating with the Board and providing all information, in a timely and accurate manner, necessary for the Board to make informed decisions.
  • Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the organization
  • Submit to the Board the proposed annual budget and financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial position of the organization.
  • Responsible for fiscal management that includes operating within the approved budget, optimal resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
  • Fund raise and develop other resources necessary to support organizations’ objectives and sustainability.
  • Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with Board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through implementing the strategic plan, programs and community outreach activities.
  • Implement the annual program that fulfills the organization’s mission.
  • Carry out strategic planning to ensure that the organization can successfully fulfill its Mission sustainably.
  • Enhancement of the organization’s image by creating and maintaining business partnerships and networks
  • Organization Operations. Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate.
  • Lead and manage the day to day running of Safe Way Right Way administration of operations.
  • Recruit and retain competent and qualified staff.

    Professional Qualifications:
  • A post graduate degree, preferably in a business/finance/ marketing or Communication related discipline
  • At least 10 years of experience
    with five or more years in a senior management leadership role in a not for profit organization.
  • Financial Acumen that includes budget and reporting skills, A strategic thinker with good organizational abilities including planning, execution, program development and task facilitation
  • An effective communicator with the Ability to convey the vision of the organization to staff, board, volunteers and donors.
  • A relationship builder, Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups.
  • A change leader and inspiring motivator.
  • A collaborative decision maker.
  • Must be passionate about the organization mission with a high level of integrity.

    Actual Job Responsibilities:
  • Planning and executing of annual budget.
  • Establishing policies and procedures for all operation of the organization
  • Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations to strategically enhance the organizations’ Mission.
  • Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their approval in policy decisions, and fundraising Supervise, collaborate with organization staff.
  • Oversee organization of Board and committee meetings.
  • Oversee marketing and other communications efforts.
  • Review and approve contracts for services.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
