Job Description
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving the consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.
Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems, in particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. Since our establishment, our vision for Ethiopia is to address the nutrition challenges, holistically, applying a systems’ approach that links production, processing, packaging, transport, trade, markets, and consumption of safe and nutritious food.
In support of this, GAIN Ethiopia seeks partnerships and builds strategic alliances with Government Institutions, businesses, development partners and donor organizations. Better Dairy for All (BDFA) project is one of the projects that has been implemented in Ethiopia and it aims to improve the consumption of dairy products by pregnant women, children under 7yrs, and low wage workers. In order to reach the low wage workers, GAIN targets industrial parks and large-scale farms to advocate dairy access to workers either aligning with workforce meal program or applying subsidy model.
Overall purpose
Workforce Nutrition Associate will be directly responsible for the effective implementation of GAIN interventions on workforce nutrition through assessing the landscape analysis, suggesting detail intervention plans and directly implementing that component of BDFA project under the guidance of the Project Manager.
S/he will also collaborate with the Workforce Nutrition team for the development of workforce nutrition strategy and establishment of workforce nutrition alliance as well as other workforce nutrition intervention in the industrial parks, large scale farms and other potential institutions.
The post-holder will be expected to quickly develop strong relationships with relevant partners, exploiting synergies within GAIN and with external stakeholders to ensure continued, effective, and timely project delivery. S/he will be responsible for influencing stakeholders towards the workforce nutritional needs and improving dairy consumption.
