Background

The children’s Heart Fund of Ethiopia (CHFE) established in 1989 GC is a non-governmental, nonprofit making humanitarian organization committed to help children with heart disease.

Since the establishment the founders with key donors were able to establish a new hospital located in BLH, equipped with basic equipment’s and supplies.

The center currently has 11 sub specialized doctors, 56 high level trained nurses and allied health professionals.

Till date the center has 3637 outpatients follow up, 85 cardiac surgeries and 1885 cat lab interventions. CHFE would like to appoint vacant potion.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Senior Communication Director is responsible for communication wing of the organization. The duties and responsibilities include

  • Planning publicity strategies and campaigns
  • Writing and producing presentations and press releases
  • Dealing with enquiries from the public, the press, and related organizations
  • Organizing and attending promotional events such as press conferences, open days, exhibitions, tours and visits
  • Speaking publicly at interviews, press conferences and presentations
  • Providing clients with information about new promotional opportunities and current pr campaigns progress
  • Analyzing media coverage
  • Commissioning or undertaking relevant market research
  • Liaising with clients, managerial and journalistic staff about budgets, timescales and objectives
  • Handling all aspects of planned publicity campaigns and activities
  • Planning and implementing marketing strategies which includes creating or altering brand images, reaching out to a new target audience and creating a budget to cover all necessary expenses.
  • Dealing with enquiries from the public, the press and related organizations.
  • Organize appropriate teams to perform each duty and then oversee their progress to ensure the strategies are successfully rolled out.
  • Analyze the marketing team and any other department teams to establish whether or not all personnel are contributing to the marketing strategies and campaigns they are assigned to.
  • Creates and publishes of all marketing material in line with marketing plans.
  • Monitors and report on effectiveness of marketing communications.
  • Analyses potential strategic partner relationships for company communication.
  • Track and monitor Fund Activity Agreement conditions and covenants;
  • Design new methodology, processes and workflows to enable better communication of the center and partners
  • Contribute to writing project reviews as required.
  • Depending on the situation, the director may also be required to carry out other, more general, communication responsibilities. This can involve working on websites and social media and writing and/or producing presentations, reports, articles, leaflets, journals and brochures for both external and internal distribution.

    Job Requirements

    Required Skills and Experience

    Education:

  • Master’s degree in social work and related fields

    Experience:

  • A minimum of 4 years of NGO work experience, gained within the PR, marketing, fundraising, program facilitating, community development, events promotion
  • A minimum of one-year work experience in media (TV, Radio, magazine or News Paper) or journalism is an advantage;
  • Experience working in areas such as research and development, project design and implementation, proposal development;
  • Knowledge of STATA and SPSS and hands-on experience producing products to support projects required;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office tools is desirable;
  • Leadership skill is preferable

    Language:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;

    Evaluation method:

    Only the top 3 candidates scoring 70 points or higher from the review of the education, experience and languages will be considered for the interview;

    Candidates obtaining 21 points or higher in the interview will be deemed technically qualified and considered for financial evaluation;

    Applicant receiving the highest combined score and who has accepted CHFE’s General Terms and Conditions will be awarded the contract.
