The Carter Center is a not-for-profit international NGO committed to waging peace, fighting disease and building hope worldwide. The Carter Center country office in Ethiopia, which assists the Government of Ethiopia in Disease Elimination and Eradication Programs, is looking for a qualified professional to fill the following vacancy for its Guinea Worm Eradication Program:

Summary of Job Description:

He/she will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage all staff contracts and ensures all staff documentation are properly filed
  • Submit and follow up with staff medical insurance claims
  • Track staff leave
  • Keep proper documentation and registration of incoming letters
  • Perform data entry and manage the organization of the soft and hard copies of programmatic data
  • Assist staff in the proper arrangement of the office and the removal of unnecessary documents/items
  • Assist store keepers to keep track of all supplies received and issued
  • Receive all vehicle and motorcycle logs and reports for submission to the logistics officer
  • Assist program staff in the preparation for meetings
    and trainings
  • Provide secretarial assistance to all staff in the office
  • Has an understanding of and adheres to the requirements of maintaining confidentiality at all times
  • Perform any other activities assigned by supervisor

    Terms of Employment: One-year contract with a possibility of extension.

    Job Requirements

    Qualification: BA or Diploma in Management, Secretarial Science or related fields

    Experience: Minimum of four years of relevant office experience

    Additional/Desired Requirements:

  • Previous NGO experience
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote areas during field work
  • Good computer skills, particularly in data management and MS Office
  • Recommendation letter from the most recent employer
  • Able to present release letter from current employer in two weeks after job offer
  • Able to speak local language of the area /Agnua/
