Introduction

  • Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi is a private not-for-profit teaching hospital that provides tertiary and secondary level healthcare services. The University Hospital has been providing high quality care for the people of East Africa and beyond for over 50 years. It has 50 Medical Centres in East Africa.

  • Applications are invited from qualified candidates for the above position based in Nairobi Kenya. The position holder will report to the Allied Health Manager.

    Responsibilities:

  • Assessing the status of patients before providing physiotherapy services

  • Treat Patients using -Electrotherapy, hydrotherapy exercisers, massager, Manual therapy, Bobath, Mullighan, Trigger point and Maitland techniques among many treatment modalities and techniques

  • Evaluating, monitoring and recording patients’ progress related to the care plan and maintaining accurate records

  • Ensure proper maintenance of patients’ records

  • Observing and complying with environment health & occupational safety by monitoring infection control/ergonomics/falls and to ensure the institution is infection control compliant

  • Participate in the implementation of quality control /staff development

  • Participate in the implementation of quality control programmes of the department

  • Carry out random stock takes in collaboration with stock controller

  • Ensuring functionality of equipment by participating in regular maintenance/monitoring & testing to ensure minimum equipment
    downtime and efficient quality service

  • Report any malfunction detected from physiotherapy and rehabilitation equipment.

  • Maintaining the general cleanliness and working conditions of electro medical and rehabilitation equipment.

  • Supplying orthopaedic materials and appliances to patients and advising them on their use.

  • Carrying out clinical and service audits to ensure continuing improvement of services.

  • Any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor or designee.

    Requirements:

  • Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution/college.

  • Registered with the Kenya Society of Physiotherapists.

  • 1-year post experience as physiotherapist.

  • Heart Saver Certification.

  • Knowledge of assessment/evaluation techniques, monitoring and recording patients’ progress.

  • Excellent knowledge of treatment techniques.

  • Ability to operate and apply electro medical/rehab equipment.

  • Show tact and courtesy towards patients and peers.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and supervisory skills.
