Introduction

  • The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational sections: Epidemiology & biostatistics, Health policy & management, Population & reproductive health, Environmental health, and Non-communicable diseases & mental health.

  • Project mPareshan aims to develop an mHealth strategy to allow Lady Health Workers (LHWs) and their Supervisors (LHSs) to assess, diagnose, and provide management services for mental health within a rural district set up in Sindh, Pakistan. It employs mixed methods to (i) assess the point prevalence of anxiety and depression amongst rural households and (ii) determine feasibility of an mHealth strategy executed through LHWs and LHSs.

  • This is a short term grant-funded position.

    Responsibilities

    You will be responsible for:

  • Scheduling and organising meetings of the Principal Investigator (PI), CHS and Brain and Mind Institute (BMI) team.

  • Assisting Co-Prinicpal Investigators (Co-PIs) in preparing agenda and recording minutes of meetings.

  • Assisting research team in conducting some basic literature search and editing presentations in power point.

  • Arranging logistics for field sessions, meetings or special events at AKU.

  • Maintaining a record of all informed consents, field logs and hard and soft
    copy of data in safe storage.

  • Assisting the team with all central logistics related to execution of field activities.

  • Assisting PI in other related activities as appropriate.

    Requirements

    You should have:

  • A Bachelors’ degree from an HEC recognised institute.

  • At least two years' of related experience required.

  • Extensive administrative support experience in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Good organisational skills required, with strict attention to details in all tasks.

  • Ability to do multi-tasking, set priorities, and maintaining positive attitude at times of increased workload without being micro-managed.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with people at all levels.

  • Ablility to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision, and be willing to work occasionally on evenings or weekends.
