Job Description

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  • Provide technical input in development, implementation, and review of the College’s strategic plan, vision, mission, and objectives.

  • Oversee establishment, nurturing, and strengthening collaborations and partnerships with Government agencies, development partners, the private sector, and other key stakeholders.

  • Oversee formulation, implementation, monitoring, and review of the Department’s annual budgets, procurement and disposal plans, performance contracts, and annual reports.

  • Oversee coaching, mentoring, and developing staff to foster a high‑performing, motivated, and ethical workforce.

  • Oversee formulation, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Department’s risk management policies and frameworks.

  • Oversee development, implementation, and periodic review of the Department’s Citizen Service Delivery Charter.

  • Represent the Department in the Academic Board and institutional committees, contributing to policy formulation, academic governance, and strategic decision‑making.

  • Foster and entrench a conducive corporate culture that upholds ethical conduct, integrity, professionalism, and good governance.

  • Oversee development and implementation of corruption prevention and mitigation strategies.

  • Oversee implementation of principles of Corporate Governance, relevant national policies, guidelines, and directives.

  • Oversee management of public complaints resolution, information access requests, and public awareness initiatives.

  • Provide leadership and coordination of student affairs and key stakeholders to facilitate a harmonious environment for holistic nurturing of students.

  • Prepare and supervise departmental work plans to ensure effective execution of the division’s mandate.

  • Plan, maintain, and monitor divisional budget to ensure prudent use of resources.

  • Oversee allocation of students’ facilities.

  • Oversee implementation of departmental quality procedures to ensure set standards are met.

  • Prepare students’ appeals board papers to ensure discipline issues are handled promptly.

  • Oversee students’ disciplinary process and procedures to maintain a conducive learning environment.

  • Handle students’ administration and welfare issues daily in close liaison with Management.

  • Guide and counsel students regularly to ensure
    academic focus.

  • Oversee orientation programmes for new students to familiarize them with College programs, policies, procedures, and facilities.

  • Oversee management of students’ records.

  • Manage students’ activities including co‑curricular, elections, and training.

  • Oversee performance of outsourced cleaning and sanitary services.

  • Coordinate day‑to‑day Department activities and ensure smooth operations in line with approved work plans.

  • Oversee preparation, validation, and timely submission of periodic Departmental reports.

  • Oversee implementation of the College’s resolutions and audit recommendations.

  • Articulate and represent issues relating to the College’s mandate in national, regional, and international stakeholder forums.

  • Appraise direct reports.

  • Oversee development, implementation, and review of annual divisional budget.

  • Oversee development, implementation, and review of divisional annual procurement and assets disposal plan.

  • Oversee divisional resource mobilization.

    Person Specifications

    For appointment to this position, a candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or Tourism Management or equivalent in a relevant field.

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.

  • At least twelve (12) years’ relevant working experience, three (3) of which must have been in a supervisory position.

  • Demonstrated results in work performance.

  • Senior management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks.

  • Two (2) publications for lecturers.

  • Computer proficiency skills.

  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
