Tenwek Hospital Laparoscopic Skills Lab Operations Officer Jobs in Kenya;We are seeking a Laparoscopic Skills Lab Operations Officer to manage access, equipment, scheduling, and training support for the LAPP program, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

Access, Security & Accountability

  • Hold and secure laboratory keys and administer biometric access per hospital policy

  • Arrange and document temporary access for workshops, faculty, residents, and visiting groups

  • Open, secure, and close the laboratory for approved activities; report incidents promptly

  • Ensure equipment and consumables do not leave the lab without authorization and return plan

    Equipment, Inventory & Repairs

  • Maintain master inventory of laboratory assets, including condition and service status

  • Keep equipment organized, labeled, clean, and ready for use

  • Perform daily equipment checks and first‑line troubleshooting; escalate issues as needed

  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with vendors or biomedical support

  • Monitor consumables and submit restocking requests to prevent training interruptions

    Scheduling & Training Preparation

  • Maintain authoritative laboratory schedule and prevent double‑booking

  • Update visiting‑groups calendar and confirm training details with participants

  • Coordinate schedules with faculty and residents

  • Prepare training stations, instruments, consumables, audiovisual systems, and materials

  • Support off‑site training trips by preparing, transporting, and reconciling equipment

    Attendance, Records & Video Management

  • Maintain accurate attendance and sign‑in records for all sessions

  • Label, organize, quality‑check, and upload training videos; maintain secure index

  • Protect training records and videos from unauthorized access or loss

  • Maintain learner progress records and provide accurate data for program review

    Specimens, Cleanliness & Safe Practice

  • Coordinate logistics for specimens used in training, including transport and storage

  • Follow infection‑prevention, PPE, decontamination, waste segregation, and disposal protocols

  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and safe practices before, during, and after sessions

  • Perform daily checks to confirm readiness for the next group

    Learner & Faculty Support

  • Develop competence in laparoscopic skills, equipment setup, and simulation tasks

  • Orient participants to program objectives,
    lab layout, equipment handling, and safety procedures

  • Enroll participants in the LAPP program and provide feedback aligned with proficiency standards

  • Refer clinical questions or disputed assessments to faculty or Medical Education Coordinator

  • Collect user feedback and recommend improvements to lab flow and learner experience

    Reporting

  • Submit weekly reports on sessions, learner progress, inventory, and incidents

  • Submit monthly reports on projects, participants, outcomes, and planned activities

  • Notify Medical Education Coordinator immediately of significant incidents or disruptions

    Requirements

  • Demonstrated critical‑thinking and problem‑solving ability

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple schedules and deadlines

  • High integrity and accountability in managing restricted access and confidential information

  • Clear written and oral communication skills with confidence to give constructive feedback

  • Curiosity and willingness to learn laparoscopic equipment and training workflows

  • Practical digital skills for calendars, spreadsheets, records, video management, and troubleshooting

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize urgent needs, and report risks early

  • Ability to collaborate respectfully with faculty, residents, visiting groups, and hospital staff

  • Education, training, or work experience demonstrating the above competencies

  • Experience in skills labs, simulation centers, training programs, clinical environments, or technical workshops

  • Experience maintaining inventories, coordinating repairs, supporting audiovisual systems, or managing digital records

  • Familiarity with infection‑prevention practices, PPE, and safe handling of biological specimens
