Tenwek Hospital Cardiac Sonographer Jobs in Kenya; The Cardiac Sonographer will provide echocardiography services to ensure patients receive high‑quality care in alignment with AGC – Tenwek CTC policies, prevailing regulations, and the mission to honor God through service. The role involves patient care, diagnostic imaging, equipment management, and mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Communication

  • Review patient medical records, requisition orders, and lab results.

  • Obtain and verify clinical information to ensure exam accuracy.

  • Communicate effectively with patients and families to explain procedures.

  • Provide emergency care using basic support protocols until advanced teams arrive.

  • Share critical findings with physicians and clinical teams.

    Equipment & Facility Management

  • Request maintenance of echocardiography and electrogram machines.

  • Maintain exam area cleanliness and adequate stock of supplies.

    Training & Mentorship

  • Train and mentor junior staff in basic echocardiography skills.

    Compliance & Ethics

  • Safeguard patient and hospital confidential information.

  • Adhere to Tenwek Hospital moral code and Kenya Clinical Officers’ Council regulations.

  • Maintain legal compliance in clinical practice.

    Clinical & Echocardiography Skills

  • Perform 2D, color flow, and spectral Doppler echocardiography.

  • Recognize abnormal findings requiring urgent review.

  • Respond to emergency exams in ICUs, wards, ER, catheterization labs, and operating rooms.

  • Operate ultrasound systems and assist during stress/contrast
    echocardiography.

  • Prepare written impressions and preliminary reports for adults and pediatric patients.

  • Place EKG leads accurately for cardiac monitoring.

    Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery (Clinical Officers) or Diploma in Medical Imaging (Radiology Technologists) or related field.

  • Preceptorship/Certificate/Higher Diploma in Cardiac Sonography.

  • BLS certification; ACLS preferred.

  • Registration with Clinical Officers Council of Kenya or KNRA for radiologists.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Cardiac Echo and Diagnostics.

    Skills & Competencies

  • Strong multi‑tasking, time management, and problem‑solving abilities.

  • Ability to learn and implement new procedures independently.

  • Integrity, accountability, and commitment to God’s work.

  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
