Project Description

The USAID funded READ II is a five year project lead by Creative Associates with a subcontract to EDC to improve the reading proficiency of 15 million children by 2022, with a focus on six target regions.

The project will focus on three main areas of intervention to achieve its goal to improve students’ reading fluency and comprehension:

  • improving classroom reading and writing instruction,
  • strengthening community engagement in education activities and
  • improving leadership, management and delivery capacity at each administrative level. This position falls under goal 3.

    Position Summary:

    The Finance/Administration Assistant, working closely with the project staffs, Finance, HR and Support Services staff at country office, is responsible for Data entry and encoding and making authorized payments revision and other clerical tasks for the upcoming two months.

    Finance/Admin Assistant , the incumbent will collaborate with the project team in the field and head office staffs and provide a comprehensive and effective financial, administrative service to the Ethiopia field office and HQ.

    The Finance and Administration Assistant will assist the project office and Head office team in ensuring that Ethiopia office is provided and well supported in all areas of Finance & administration, contributing to the work efficiency of the organization.

    Reporting and Organizational Relationships:

  • The Finance/Administration Assistant will report to the Senior Finance Manager and will work closely with the project finance team.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    Finance

  • Work on VAT payment documents and prepare claim sheets.
  • Keep complete and accurate documentation.

    Administration

  • Assist and support Finance, HR and Admin Manager on administration issues.
  • Collaborate closely with other project Finance and Program staff.
  • Work on pension documents and facilitate registration with government .
  • Regular – Temporary Position (2 months contract with possibility of extension)

    Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • University degree in accounting with at least 2 years of experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with USAID VAT reporting.
  • Experience in administrative activities in a busy office environment and compiling monthly information.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and oral English and Amharic language.
  • Ability to manage filing systems quickly and systematically.
  • Use of excel, word processing, email is a requirement.
  • Experience with Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Ethiopia is an advantage.
