Tearfund in Ethiopia is looking for a competent and experienced Design, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (DMEAL) Officer. The DMEAL Officer will support the Country office and JISRA Consortium in particular on all matters related to programme design, monitoring, evaluation and learning to ensure that accountability is mainstreamed in the delivery of Tearfund's Ethiopia Strategy and that projects reflect Tearfund Quality Standards commitments.

Tearfund has been working in Ethiopia since the 1970s. Along with our in-country partners, we have supported the establishment and development of more than 20,000 self-help groups (SHGs) across 50 locations in Ethiopia, as a sustainable, holistic approach to fighting poverty and its manifestation. Tearfund is also the lead agency in Ethiopia for an interfaith consortium known as the Joint Initiative for Strategic Religious Action (JISRA).

The DMEAL Officer is responsible for supporting partners to collect timely and relevant programmatic and field level information, documentation, learning, sharing and reporting to ensure quality and accountability in the programs.

The role includes leading on follow-up on the project implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Tearfund and partners' project activities and producing and submitting internal and external narrative and financial reports to donors, government and Tearfund strategic partners.


Do you have experience of:
  • Design Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning & Accountability systems
  • Proven skills and knowledge on proposal development and logframes
  • Proven skills and knowledge on MEAL budgeting, MEAL System/Applications
  • Working with multiple partners in monitoring and reviewing a program's results achievement progress
  • Experience in DMEAL capacity building of staff and implementing partners
  • Proven experience of operating in insecure environments
  • NGO experience (specifically working with INGO's and local organisations)
