Position

Taam Cab is seeking a Managing Director to operate the business.

Reporting

The Managing Director will report directly to the board of Taam Cab.

Job Overview

The Managing Director will be responsible for ensuring the overall success of Taam Cab in Ethiopia.

This will include managing sales and marketing, accounting, app development, and day to day operations, among other things. Playing an active role in hiring and onboarding these teams will also be very important.

Core Responsibilities and Duties

Oversight of the recruitment, hiring, compensation, and performance management of core employees.

Developing budgets and revenue projections and ensuring that they are met.

Full ownership of P&L.

Retaining key employees over time.

Ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory statutes.

Mentoring employees and developing their capabilities..

Directing the financial accounting of the company.

Reporting regularly on progress to the board.

Monitoring the development team’s progress on improving the application.

Providing day to day leadership for the Taam Cab team.

Overseeing the expansion of the fleet of vehicles

Taam Cab works with.

Growing the customer base and revenue of Taam Cab.

Establishing partnerships with local taxi unions.

Introducing new innovations and ideas to further improve the business.

Expanding Taam Cab from Addis Ababa to new markets in Ethiopia.

Overseeing digital and physical marketing efforts.

Interacting with local media to generate positive coverage of Taam Cab.

Job Requirements

A bachelor’s degree or higher

5+ years in a senior position in an ecommerce business

Strong working knowledge of financial modeling, digital marketing, app development, and business development

Ability to generate clear reports on business and financial metrics

Ability to interact with local media and sell Taam Cab’s vision to the public

A proven track record working with early stage ecommerce businesses

Knowledge of local business regulations in Ethiopia

Fluency in English and Amharic required

Fluency in other Ethiopian languages such as Oromo or Tigrinya a plus

Ethiopian citizenship

Willingness to be based in Addis Ababa, with the potential for future travel to other regions of Ethiopia 50% or more of the time as the company expands into new markets
