SPH was founded in 2016 by Mahmoud Noor with partners including National Museums of Kenya, Seacom, CISCO, and ICT Authority.

Position Overview:

A finance Associate is in charge of overseeing an organization's financial health in order to promote success and growth while adhering to lawful financial standards. Financial planning to identify how to pay off liabilities and build the organization, checking financial papers to assure tax compliance, and working with other departments to reach monetary goals are some of their responsibilities.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform financial management duties including generating financial data, compiling and submitting reports, analyzing industry trends and assessing the financial health of the company.

  • Oversee the operations and development of the Organisation’s finance departments including creating and reviewing policies, budgeting, recruiting, training and conducting regular assessments of financial procedures.

  • Supervise the preparation of quarterly and annual account reconciliations, monitor and enforce compliance with tax and financial reporting standards andassist with cash flow forecasting.

  • Advise colleagues and executive management on decisions related to the Organization's finances.

  • Mediate between the organization, employees, stakeholders, shareholders and investors on financial issues for amicable resolution of differences.

  • Create strategic business plans based on the analysis of the Organisation’s status and financial forecasts.

  • Maintain complete records of all financial transactions of the Office.

  • Ensure that all payments or transactions are properly supported by the required documents as outlined in the financial guidelines and posted on Financial Software (Quickbooks)

  • Manage financial documentation and reconciliation for optimal funds reporting.

  • Monitor Admin and project income against budget and ensure that all variances are identified in a timely way.

  • Monitor bank balances on a daily and periodic basis in order to produce cashflow forecasts, update cash books

  • Prepare Bank reconciliations, Receivable report, Creditors reports, and others on monthly basis.

  • Prepare cheque payments and refund claims and ensure that payments are made against verifiable accounting documents.

  • Manage Staff advances in line with Swahilipot Hub financial guidelines.

  • Maintain & reconcile petty cash as per swahilipot hub financial guidelines.

  • Prepare payroll for the staff recruited within the office level.

  • Assemble materials for and assist Internal and External auditors in conducting audits.

  • Receive, record invoices and arrange payment.

  • Prepare LPOs, Invoices, Comparative Bid Analysis and other financial documents.

    Preferable Qualifications:

  • Is a Citizen of Kenya;

  • Has Three (3) years relevant working experience;

  • Has served in the grade of a Finance Assistance or in a similar position for a minimum period of three (3) years with proven experience;

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Commerce(Finance option), Economics, Business Administration (Finance option),

  • Business Management (Finance option), Finance or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

  • Is a Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (CPA II) or its recognized equivalent.

  • Demonstrates computer literacy;

  • Demonstrates financial professional competence;

  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills

  • In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax regulations and industry legislation

    Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Interpersonal skills and desire to work with our community, specifically youth at the base of the pyramid.

  • Strong reporting skills

  • Data analysis capabilities.

  • Strong project management background.

  • Demonstrated expertise with technology platforms.
