Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conducting Farmer Field School (FFS) trainings for organic sesame farmers

Conducting Farmer Business School (FBS) trainings for organic sesame farmers

Follow up on the progress/ supervise organic farmers that participated in the trainingsManage and follow up on agricultural demonstration plots

Provide agricultural support to designated organic farmers

Regular oral and written (progress) reporting to project manager and lead agronomist

Regular contact and reporting with project partners (GIZ and FIBL)

Be in constant, regular and personal contact with the group of designated organic farmers assigned

Making sure that the assigned group of designated organic farmers adheres to the rules of organic agricultural production

Monitor the activities of all designated farmers so as to provide advice whenever needed, ensure that they are sticking to the principles of organic farming methods during sesame production and also implementing the new technologies or methods of production in the proper manner

Report any not organic farming activity (e.g. spraying of pesticide or herbicide, burning of crop residues etc.)

immediately to direct superiors and management

Independently take action to mitigate the negative consequences of not organic farming

The employee accepts to execute all normal and reasonable activities which are necessary for the company's activities as indicated by its management, within the scope of the agreed function

Collaboration with the regular company extension staff

Qualifications/ Knowledge and Skills
Requirements:

Education/ experience:

Diploma or higher education Certificate in field related to agriculture And/or
Practical experience in agricultural production
Practical experience in conducting training sessions

Fluent in:

English

Amharic

Tigrinya

Candidates with the following skills are preferred:

Experience with sesame production

Experience with organic agriculture
