Sun King Mechanical Design Engineer Jobs in Kenya;Support design and validation tasks to ensure production efficiency and product quality for Sun King Clean Cooking technologies. Provide mechanical troubleshooting, design iteration, validation, and field assistance to enable large‑scale production and adoption of clean cooking solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Production Assistance

Troubleshoot Incoming Quality Inspection and in‑line production rigs to ensure production uptime.

Evaluate manufacturer quality systems and yield efficiency (TAKT timing).

Develop rigs and fixtures to improve inspection efficiency.

Test hardware prototypes, analyse performance data, and validate end‑of‑line functional testing tools.

Perform maintenance, repairs, and modifications to existing hardware.

Build, maintain, and update custom air test systems.

Design Iteration & Validation

Oversee mechanical validation activities executed by manufacturing teams.

Assist Senior QA Engineers with testing new hardware improvements.

Collaborate with local vendors for fabrication of production equipment and prototypes.

Support CAD design of production equipment and fixtures.

Coordinate design validation tests with manufacturers to ensure product requirements are met.

Field Assistance

Act as first contact for mechanical failures in the field.

Gather stakeholder feedback and communicate recommendations to design teams.

Troubleshoot product hardware issues during IQC and field deployments.

Investigate root causes of systematic product failures and resolve through design or process changes.

Monitor hardware and firmware performance in the field.

Evaluate field performance data to identify trends and provide insights.

Stakeholder Assistance

Collaborate with internal teams (Production, Quality, Hardware Engineering) on planning, prototyping, testing, and validation.

Engage external stakeholders (production partners, vendors, field teams) to align design intent with manufacturing and field realities.

Requirements for Appointment

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechatronics, or related field.

Experience

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, including CAD design and prototyping.

Skills & Competencies

Hands‑on skills in building, testing, and maintaining prototypes.

Ability to produce and interpret engineering documentation (schematics, assemblies, BOMs).

Strong evaluative, problem‑solving, and cross‑cultural communication skills.

Attention to detail, teamwork mindset, and willingness to learn.

Flexibility to travel when required.
