Sun King Country LPG Operations & LMD Lead Jobs in Kenya;The successful candidate will work closely with Product and Commercial teams to develop systems, processes and features that enable the LPG supply chain to scale while maintaining a high standard of last‑mile customer service.
Key Responsibilities
LPG Supply Management
Coordinate LPG sourcing and intake with Commercial teams and supplier partners.
Oversee bulk transport from suppliers to refilling points or storage facilities.
Maintain safe and timely movement of LPG across the network.
Monitor refill turnaround times and ensure supply continuity.
Identify bottlenecks and implement measures to reduce stock‑out risks.
Improve bulk transport costs and routing efficiency.
Provide market and operational insights to inform supplier price negotiations.
Inventory Planning & Replenishment
Manage LPG‑related inventory flows including cookstoves, cylinders, FMCDs and accessories.
Establish and monitor depot and shop inventory levels.
Define and implement safety stock policies.
Minimize stock‑outs while optimizing working capital.
Develop replenishment planning frameworks aligned with demand.
Coordinate demand forecasting with Sales teams.
Depot Infrastructure Management
Develop standardized layouts for depots and shops.
Establish capacity benchmarks and throughput limits.
Ensure compliance with safe storage standards.
Segregate empty and full cylinders with designated quarantine zones.
Improve workflows to reduce handling time.
Establish throughput targets for each depot.
Asset Lifecycle Management
Maintain cylinder tracking and visibility across markets.
Improve monthly cylinder working capital efficiency.
Ensure >97% of repossessed assets are redeployed.
Reduce shrinkage and idle assets.
Manage cylinder recertification pipeline.
Improve turnaround times from collection to redeployment.
LPG Last‑Mile Delivery Performance
Improve rider productivity and delivery service quality.
Optimize routing and geographic density.
Monitor and reduce cost per delivery.
Improve adherence to service‑level requirements.
Optimize fleet utilization and delivery efficiency.
Operational Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with depot storage requirements and safety limits.
Maintain rider safety protocols.
Coordinate incident investigations and corrective actions.
Conduct depot safety audits and monitor compliance.
Maintain safe bulk LPG handling processes.
Integrated LMD Infrastructure Across Product Categories
Develop scalable last‑mile delivery
infrastructure for LPG and other product categories (inverters, mobile phones, solar).
Establish common routing frameworks and rider productivity standards.
Develop fleet utilization models across categories.
Define cost‑per‑stop economics to guide distribution planning.
Standardize field performance management practices.
Team Development & Capacity Building
Manage and develop multi‑country LMD teams.
Develop SOPs for consistent execution and growth.
Coordinate recruitment and training for depot, logistics and LMD teams.
Promote a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement and safety.
Financial & Performance Ownership
Oversee operational KPIs including LPG availability, stock‑out %, transport costs, depot throughput, cylinder working capital, cost per delivery and inventory loss %.
Develop and manage LMD operational budgets.
Monitor cost‑to‑serve metrics and distribution economics.
Identify cost optimization opportunities.
Establish KPIs and monitor progress against targets.
Provide regular reports and recommendations to senior management.
Qualifications & Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, Finance, IT or related field.
Experience in LPG, downstream oil & gas or FMCG distribution.
Strong knowledge of last‑mile distribution networks and scaling operations in emerging markets.
Demonstrated project management and process improvement experience.
Ability to work effectively in fast‑paced environments with minimal supervision.
Experience monitoring operational changes and delivery efficiency.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience managing cross‑border teams and building team capabilities.
Strong data interpretation and financial skills.
Familiarity with regulatory bodies such as Energy Regulatory Authorities.
