Introduction

  • Stromme Foundation (SF) is a Norwegian International Non- Governmental Organisation. From its Head Office in Kristiansand, Norway, SF works through a field structure comprising of Regional and Country Offices in Asia, West Africa and East Africa, to implement projects in the areas of promoting Inclusive Education (IE), job creation and strengthening the capacity of local communities. SF’s field structure works closely with local partners in implementing projects and programmes.

  • The Together for Inclusion (TOFl) Project Coordinator position is based in the Stromme Foundation's Regional Office for East Africa (SFEA) in Kampala. Uganda. The coordinator will also work closely with the Norwegian Agency for Disability (NAD) Country Manager. He/she will be accountable for managing, coordinating, implementing and monitoring the TOFI strategy and associated activities both in Uganda and South Sudan. The TOFI Coordinator will report to the Regional Programmes Manager at SF regional office in Kampala, Uganda..

    Specific Duties

    • Using Rights-Based and inclusive approaches to programming, the TOFl Coordinator, will provide leadership to the TOFI project in the areas of Inclusive Economic Empowerment [IEE), Inclusive Education (IE) and Teacher Training both in Uganda and South Sudan.

    • In liaison with the thematic leads, the TOFl coordinator will coordinate, plan and organize activities and operations of the region‘s disability inclusion work in Uganda and South Sudan.

    • The TOFI Coordinator will be responsible for supporting partners at country level in their implementation of Inclusive Education, Economic Empowerment, and Teacher Training projects with development of plans, budgets, reports, the Identification of capacity gaps and provision of technical support.

    • The TOFI Coordinator will serve as the technical lead on disability inclusion at the regional level by guiding and coordinating engagements with Disabled People‘s Organizations DPDs from national to grass roots level, in close collaboration with other stakeholders.

    • The project coordinator will assist SF in organising quarterly steering committee meetings for the Inclusive Education, Inclusive Economic Empowerment and Teacher Training programmes both in Uganda and South Sudan.

    • In close consultation with relevant thematic leads at the regional office, country office in South Sudan, departments in SF-KRS, Norwegian Agency tor disability (NAB) and NUDIPU the TOFl Coordinator will draft timely inputs to regular progress reports for submission to donors.

    • Work closely with the
    PMEAL Specialist/ PMEAL Officer to conduct the baseline studies, design inclusive M&E tools for IE, IEE, Teacher Training and the monitoring and evaluation of the TOFl programme.

    • Build and facilitate networks for the promotion of community advocacy and lobbying for SF‘s target beneficiaries with disabilities.

    • Facilitate and participate in TOFI programme reviews, evaluations etc. in liaison with the PMEAL Advisor to monitor all TOFI activities and ensure they are implemented according to the annually agreed work plans in meeting the set objectives.

    • Active participation in disability inclusion forums at regional and national levels.

    Education

  • Relevant university degree within an applicable field such as, but not limited to; education, international development, political science, or law (humanitarian, social justice and for disability rights.

    Experience

    • Three to five years at a senior programme level with similar work. including experience with project management, facilitation, capacity building, and engaging civil society.

    • Relevant personal experience with disability or other relevant experience from rights-based advocacy is desirable.

    • Three to five years of experience managing donor-funded development projects, preferably experience being responsible tor budgets.

    • Three to five years of experience coordinating complex projects involving many partners.

    • Experience managing staff and/or facilitate and get results through others such as implementing partners

  • Languages Fluent in English, written and spoken.

    • Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines.

    • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team.

    • Budget and donor reporting.

    • Ability to travel frequently to the field within the region.
