Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Resource Mobilisation Specialist is responsible for generating new businesses for the organization through innovative fundraising and resource mobilization approaches among Straight Talk Foundation stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for researching opportunities for fundraising both locally and internationally by
    maintaining grant application calendar in consultations with the Executive Director.
  • Identify strategic organization funding needs and develop strategies for meeting them.
  • Generate proposals for projects and programs in line with STF strategic goals and priorities of the donors.
  • Act as a focal person for donor communication for profile building.
  • Assist the Executive Director in soliciting collaboration and contacts with donors as appropriate.
  • Maintain and nurture existing donor relationships and secure new donors and partner relationships in line with STF’s strategic plan.
  • Provide presentations and information to current and potential new donors/partners.
  • Coordinate overall funding process from donors through developing funding strategies, creating grant proposals, and identifying strategic leads and concepts.
  • Keep abreast with international trends and regularly advise the Executive Director on opportunities and challenges.
  • Manage existing grants by tracking & developing internal reporting systems and maintaining excellent
    historical records on various grants.
  • Undertake ongoing monitoring of grant program goals and monthly performance of all STF programs
    and communicate relevant grant information with program staff.

    Academic Background, Experience and Person Specifications:
  • Recommended a minimum of 5 years management experience in a corporate or an NGO
    environment, including significant field operations experience running development programs.
  • A minimum of Masters Degree in development or other social sciences.
  • Robust experience of NGO program cycle management, and with experience of working within a complex and matrix organisation structure.
  • Substantial experience in logistics, including procurement, supply chain, fleet management & inventory.
  • Significant knowledge of NGO systems, institutions and donors, and of procedures, accountability frameworks and best practices in program management.
  • Substantial experience and knowledge of effective financial and budgetary control and securing and managing grants from major institutional donors.
  • Solid project management skills
    related to organisational development projects, cross-functional teams with a proven history of delivering results.
  • Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.
  • An in-depth understanding of national and international development issues in particular in relation to the youth.
  • Previous experience of managing and developing a team and the ability to lead, motivate and
    develop others.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Commitment to and understanding of STF’s aims, values and principles including rights-based
    approaches.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively in and outside Uganda.
