Role details

  • Reporting to the Chief Manager Strategy and Business, the job holder will be responsible for development and provision of leadership in implementation of competitive marketing and sales strategy to achieve the Society’s business and corporate strategies.

  • He/she will contribute to the development and refinement of the Society’s business development business plans in addition to marketing, research and product development, leveraging on data and analytics.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the formulation and implementation of leading approaches to marketing, sales and research; and feed these into the overall strategy of the Society.

  • Keep abreast of local and global trends and development and make recommendations to the Chief Manager, Strategy and Business.

  • Demonstrate ownership of and communicate the marketing, sales and research strategic direction and objectives to all staff to promote the Society’s brand and its products and services to optimize revenue generation.

  • Review, develop and oversee implementation of marketing policies, systems, procedures and controls.

  • Oversee the delivery of optimized and coordinated marketing and promotional campaigns across all platforms.

  • Participate in design of sales and marketing ads and publications in collaboration with other relevant functions.

  • Provide content for advertisements, sales and marketing materials.

  • Lead the research and data analytics teams to provide and analyse regular market research data and insight to drive product development, sales and marketing initiatives.

  • Routinely provide the Chief Manager, Strategy and Business and management committee with detailed reporting which includes – but not limited to – members’ behaviours and sentiments, market/competitive conditions, industry/economic trends, product performance and campaign performance (ROI).

  • Drive the implementation of data-driven, dynamic, ‘voice-of-the-customer’ marketing strategies and tests that deliver against Return on Investment (ROI) targets through a segmented customer base across marketing channels.

  • Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products.

  • Lead the sales team to initiate and close new business opportunities while enhancing current Society’s capabilities to retain existing customers and acquire more customers from existing customer segments.

  • Grow product revenue and meet profitability targets through market segmentation and increased product uptake/cross-selling.

  • Determine annual unit and gross-profit plans by implementing sales strategies; analyzing trends and results.

  • Provide feedback into product development team; participate in their development and collaboration to create, launch and track performance of product and service offerings in all market segments.

  • Execute online and offline marketing initiatives, integrating
    online and new media, email, print, direct mail, social media, company websites, branch awareness and other marketing initiatives.

  • Coordinate with relevant functions to evaluate marketing effectiveness by monitoring advertisement and promotion budgets.

  • Measure performance of sales and marketing activities using available reporting tools.

  • Ensure consistent brand messaging across TV, print, radio, outdoor, digital and social media marketing channels in liaison with the Communications team.

  • Oversee data collection on member educational needs identified and plan for member education events.

  • Carry out market intelligence surveys to accelerate growth in membership and product uptake.

  • Interpret data on member behaviours and ensure the SACCO brand appeals to members through better products and services.

  • Ensure feasibility studies on SBUs, SPEs and new service points are done.

  • Manage the on boarding, development and participate in the recruitment of the Marketing, Sales and Research Department staff.

    Minimum Requirements

    Academic Requirements

  • A Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration, Sales and Marketing or a relevant field.

  • Must be a member of a professional body and in good standing.

    Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in creating marketing strategies, leading sales and research.

  • At least three (3) years in a similar role.
