Role details

  • Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Manager Finance and Administration will provide strategic leadership and oversight to Finance, Human Resources and Administration.

  • The job holder will be responsible for strategic financial planning and management, financial advisory, resource mobilization and reporting.

  • He/she will provide effective and efficient co-ordination and supervision of accounting, financial and treasury management through development and implementation of sound accounting and financial systems and internal control procedures in accordance with regulations, standards and Society policies and procedures.

  • The job holder will also be responsible for Human Resource and Administrative function of the Society by providing leadership and support, in addition to contributing to the development and implementation of appropriate change management initiatives.

  • He/she will oversee the development and implementation of leading practice people management strategies, policies and programmes to drive a strong employee experience and promote productivity.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and drive implementation of leading approaches to the strategic planning process covering finance, human resources and administration.

  • Responsible for cascading the strategy to departmental teams and ensuring development of action plans.

  • Lead the development and implementation of leading practice policies and procedures relating to finance, human resources & administration.

  • Responsible for overall management and co-ordination all aspects of reporting, budgeting, final accounts and liaison with internal and statutory auditors.

  • Ensure development and implementation of sound accounting and financial systems and internal control procedures in accordance with regulations, standards and Society policies and procedures.

  • Create and maintain strong financial discipline, provide periodic financial information and reports on the Sacco’s performance to the Board of Directors and the senior management team.

  • Ensure strong internal policies, processes and control systems in order to provide timely, consistent and accurate financial, treasury and management information for effective decision making.

  • Evaluate and measure finance and business performance against the Society strategic plan, make recommendations and presentations to enhance organizational performance to meet shareholders’ expectations.

  • Maintain good working relationship with various stakeholders towards attainment of the Sacco’s corporate plans and investment programs.

  • Oversee the implementation of Board of Directors (BOD) decisions on matters touching the Human Resource aspects of the Society.

  • Attend the Board
    Finance, Investments and Credit (FIC) Committee meetings as the Committee Secretary as well as be in attendance in Human Resource Committee Meetings and Business, Strategy & Technology Meetings.

  • Ensure human resources policies are implemented consistently and the core values of the Sacco are upheld.

  • Manage the division’s budget and participate in budgetary control.

    Minimum Requirements

    Academic Requirements

  • A Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a business related field.

  • A Master’s degree in Finance or Business will be an added advantage.

  • Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (K) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

  • Full member of a relevant professional body such as Institute of Certified Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in good standing.

    Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ relevant finance and accounting work experience.

  • At least four years in career history must be in a similar role in terms of scale and complexity.

  • Summary of Technical Competencies
    Financial management and reporting.

  • Knowledge in all aspects of a financial institution, including accounting ,IFRS standards, and SASRA guidelines.

  • Treasury management.

  • Business performance analysis.

  • Knowledge of local taxation

  • Commercial awareness

  • Financial risk management.

  • Financial policy development ,interpretation and application.

  • Internal control assessments.

  • Reconciliation and analysis.
