Role details

  • Reporting to the Chief Manager Strategy and Business, the job holder will be responsible to head and manage the Branch as a Strategic Business Unit (SBU) through implementing a strategic planning and business development framework that develops human capital and other resources in order to deliver outstanding results through business sustainability, growth, profitability, acquisition strategy while driving new business initiatives.

  • S/he will support in development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards and controls for the Branch of the Society.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in formulation and drive implementation of leading approaches to the strategic planning for the branch and ensure these feeds into the overall strategy of the Society.

  • Develop and implement new business opportunities and concepts.

  • Network with customers and key stakeholders to build and retain sound relationships that create a receptive market for growth and strengthening the Sacco’s brand.

  • Achieve high quality customer service delivery, consistently improve customer experience and ensure compliance with Society’s Customer Service Charter.

  • Administer and interpret the Society policies and procedures including recommendation set forth in audit reports at the branch level.

  • Manage performance, taking corrective action and ensure compliance with Society policies and procedures.

  • Support branch business continuity, growth and profitability by promoting uptake of products and services.

  • Ensure security of employees, cash, assets and other valuable Society documents.

  • Ensure compliance with the relevant statutory, legal and regulatory requirements in execution of branch operations.

  • Direct and supervise the credit underwriting, monitoring, collection and loan recovery processes.

  • Ensure there is adequate liquidity and compliance of statutory requirements in order to meet all branch obligations.

  • Supervise the preparation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of approved Branch budgets, plans, targets and performance reports.

  • Responsible for chairing of Branch Credit Committee.

  • Supervise and coach all staff and ensure that the business of the Branch is conducted in a proper manner.

  • Ensure the accuracy of all
    branch transactions to reduce losses.

  • Monitor cash levels held at the vault and by tellers on daily basis.

  • Ensure compliance with occupational, safety and health requirements.

  • Liaise with the departmental heads and other relevant stakeholders on issues relating to the branch.

  • Recommend branch staff establishment positions, being involved in recruitment, drawing up and updating of job descriptions of each employee at the branch.

    Minimum Requirements

    Academic Requirements

  • A Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a business related field.

    Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ relevant work experience, of which three (3) must have been experience at supervisory level in the banking sector.

  • Certified professional banker or other related professional qualifications will be an added advantage.
