The Standard Group PLC is a multi-media organization with investments in media platforms spanning newspaper print operations, television, radio broadcasting, digital and online services, as well as outdoor advertising.

The Standard newspaper,KTN,KTN News,Radio Maisha,The Nairobian weekly newspaper,Think Outdoor (billboardadvertising), Standard Digital, Farmers TV, KTN Burudani, Spice FM, Vybez Radio and Pulser.

As part of strengthening our operations, ICT department is looking for a smart, creative and ambitious individual to join the team.

System Administrator

Reporting to Service and Infrastructure Manager The incumbent will be responsible for the management and administration of the Virtual environment, Enterprise backup, Email PRIMARY

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and Administer the following systems; Active Directory, Email communications, SharePoint, skype for business,
  • Manage and administer the virtual infrastructure environment
  • Manage and administer the disaster recovery site
  • Monitor the system daily and respond immediately to security or usability concerns
  • Upgrade systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution
  • Carry out backup and failover redundancy test regularly as per the policy
  • Work with the service desk to ensure resolution of 2nd and 3rd Levels, escalated tickets as per the stipulated SLA.
  • Ensuring preventive maintenance of the active equipment is carried out as per the policy
  • Facilitate and coordinate user awareness trainings
  • Manage and coordinate projects that are data center and system related
  • Spearhead Continuous system improvements throughout the organization.
  • To coordinate, manage and liaise with vendors and suppliers to ensure that service level agreements are achieved
  • Prepare appropriate
    reports to help in the operations and decision making
  • Advise the business on process improvements, new technologies, innovations and products
  • Maintain integrity of access levels and logins.

    Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in IT-related field from a recognised university
  • Professional certification in Server Operating Systems i.e,Microsoft Certified IT Professional(MCITP, SUSE Linux Administrator
  • Knowledge and Certification in virtualization and collaboration technologies such as VWware, Sharepoint, Skype for business will be an added advantage
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a busy IT environment

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong self-motivation and ability to work under pressure
  • Good interpersonal skills and work ethics
