Job Purpose

• To acquire and secure new to bank high value Entrepreneur and Lifestyle business opportunities by performing a proactive, mobile, value adding financial partnership role in the entrepreneur market

• To ensure that attention is given to customers to providing a comprehensive array of financial solutions to meet customer needs in terms of business growth and potential

• To ensure effective on-boarding and handover to Business Manager of all new risk groups

• To acquire new to bank Private, Prestige and Personal Market accounts.

• To ensure effective on- boarding and handover to Private and Prestige Bankers for accounts opened.

• To drive personal market account acquisition through EVB Teams

• To ensure optimal product penetration on acquisition of all new risk groups

• To execute the bank’s offering in line with the Customer Value Proposition (CVP)

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Profitable Growth in New Business Sales

• Develops and implements a calling schedule for business leads to establish financial needs and to assist potential new business clients to better understand their financial options.

• Explains, promotes, sells and or customises a range of appropriate Standard Bank of South Africa (SBSA) product offerings/financial solutions that meet the financial needs of small and medium enterprise customers.

• Sources and takes ownership of sales leads from other divisions within the bank e.g. Vehicle Asset Finance (VAF) , Business On Line(BOL) ,Standard Bank Financial Consultancy (SBFC), Home Loans, Black Economic Empowerment (BEE), Branches, Property Division , Franchising ,Merchant Services , Business Managers etc.

• Mines and analyses customer data to identify and plan new business banking opportunities.

Efficiency and Effectiveness

• Provides a central advisory/information/query handling service point for new business customers before handover of the relationship.

• Performs a proactive liaison role between customers and back office service fulfilment and credit functions to get new business onto the books

• Accurately and efficiently processes customer mandates/documentation requirements for new business facilities

• Educates customers on the benefit of utilising self service channels

• Ensures effective use of Customer1st lead generation system as a lead, query and complaint management tool.

• Ensures that all new service requests (queries and complaints) are logged correctly, as either a “first contact resolution” or “non first contact resolution” as appropriate.

• Ensures that all leads are logged correctly in the presence of the customer and ensures cross selling opportunities are identified.

• Identifies and actions opportunities for cross- and up-sell.

• Identifies migration opportunities and sells products/services reactively.

• Ensures that service requests in personal work list are actioned within agreed timelines.

• Ensures accurate capture, updates or amendments of customer information and history notes.

Legislative Compliance

• Explains credit loan facility options, parameters
and qualifying criteria

• Supports customers in the completion of credit application information requirements e.g. balance sheets, financial statements, management accounts, debtors and creditors age analysis a business plan template for ease of reference

• Motivates and processes non-scored credit applications

• Notifies customers regarding the approval/decline of credit loan facilities, which also entails, keeping the client informed during the credit process

• Exploring alternative solutions in the event of declines from Credit and ensuring bankable proposition without putting the bank at risk.

• Supports the implementation of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA) to ensure adherence to record keeping requirements

• Supports small enterprise business banking to ensure compliance to all applicable legislative requirements, such as National Credit Act (NCA),Companies Act and Consumer protection Act

Preferred Qualification and Experience

• Matric / Grade 12

• Completed Degree / Diploma (Must be FAIS recognised)

• FAIS fit & proper

• Valid drviers license

• Previous portfolio relationship management experiences as Business Manager managing a portfolio in the SE business environment is preferable. This experience provides an understanding of how businesses operate, as well as understanding the business risks, industry risks and financial requirements pertaining to the commercial market.

• A minimum of 6 months previous working experience as an Account Analyst is preferable to gain practical exposure to lending principles and to establish credible relationships.

Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise
• Strong numerical skills and financial acumen to analyse evaluate and identify trends in complex consolidated financial statements, balance sheets and ratios.

• A sound understanding of cash - flow cycles pertaining to the industry being analysed.

• A good knowledge of financial spreadsheet applications (e.g. Excel) to capture and analyse financial data.

• Good knowledge of general banking practices and procedures.

• A good knowledge of the principles and practices of business economics and the current business economic environment.

• A good current knowledge and understanding of different industry sectors and sector risk profiles/ trends; this includes an understanding of the impact of climactic conditions on agriculture (if operating in an agricultural market).

• A thorough knowledge of multi-level products available to business banking customers.

• A good knowledge of financial investment options, vehicle and asset finance and electronic banking options for lead generation purposes.

• Good knowledge of Personal Banking product offerings.

• A good knowledge of competitor offerings and structures.

• A sound knowledge and understanding of Credit principles and practices, including an understanding of credit application, securities and balance sheet requirements.

• A working knowledge of the terms and conditions of multiple legal entities (companies, close corporations, sole proprietorships etc.) in the commercial market and the legislative restrictions & requirements governing these from a financial services perspective.

• A good knowledge of the Companies and Intellectual Properties Registration Act (CIPRA) for correct documentation/ mandate preparation purposes.

• Knowledge of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS) and the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA).

• A sound working knowledge of Managing Local Market (MLM) sales principles and practices to manage and optimise portfolio retention and growth.
