Job Purpose

  • To effectively support the BCC Group Credit leadership in exceeding our Strategic and operational goals by coordinating, monitoring and reporting on the delivery of our critical plans and objectives to enhance client focus, improve profitability of the portfolio and ensure portfolio performance remains within agreed risk appetite parameters.

    Key Responsibilites

    Risk Appetite strategy and framework deployment

  • Drives effective execution of the risk appetite strategy and framework in line with the risk appetite statements, the Group Credit Risk Governance Standard and the BCC Credit Policy.

  • Provides input into the Credit Risk business unit strategies to ensure alignment with the desired Credit risk profiles

    Effective Credit Risk strategy execution and monitoring

  • Guides the detailed analysis of changes in trends in order to determine the root cause and working the BCC Credit leadership formulates the relevant plan of action where required to ensure that the portfolio remains within risk appetite parameters.

  • Examples of trends include shifts in: Risk distribution of customers, Approval rates, Take up rates, changes in behavioural economics, Channel distribution patterns, Industry type and regulatory trends.

    Financial Management

  • Track our actual spend against budget / estimates for Opex and Capex and strategically assist in ensuring spend is in the right areas. Coordinate the budgeting / forecasting process for Business and Commercial Clients Credit

    Project coordination

  • Track and report on progress for our key projects, initiatives and plans. Highlight areas of concern / lack of progress together with remediation proposals.

    People management

  • Manages the Credit Graduate team to ensure effective
    delivery of objectives for the area. Determines development needs of the team and ensures that development opportunities (training, rotation, on-the-job learning) are budgeted for and executed.

  • Works with the People & Culture Partners to facilitate a People Day at least twice a year to review succession plans, development plans (incl Credit Academy performance), culture dipstick and people performance and trends.

  • Creates workforce plans for the area to ensure that current and future business requirements can be met. Such plans should be revisited at least twice a year.

  • Uses workforce plans to obtain headcount approvals on an annual basis and as input into the financial budgeting cycles. Facilitates regular Connect sessions for the teams.

    Qualifications

  • First Degree Field of study: Business Commerce

  • 7-10 years years previous experience in credit portfolio management. Understanding of credit principles, processes and systems.

  • Exposure to analyzing data and information in solving strategic credit problems. Experience in analytical work, ideally in Credit Risk.
