The Role

Ethiopia is a country in the northeast part of Africa which is called the Horn of Africa. With archaeological finds dating back more than 3 million years, it is a place of ancient culture.

The nation is a land of natural contrasts, with its vast fertile west, its forests, and numerous rivers. Dubbo is a mission characterized by dwellings, school, church, hospital and other facilities operated by a religious group for the purpose of providing charitable services and to propagate religion.

The Governing Board of St Mary's Hospital, Dubbo, Ethiopia is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead St. Mary Catholic Primary Hospital in Dubbo, Ethiopia in the provision of services to the community and disadvantaged.

Reporting to the Board, the CEO has overall strategic and operational responsibility for the hospital staff, programs and execution of its mission.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong leader to assist in the development of and deepen the impact of a reputable rural hospital which is based on the ethical standards of the Catholic Church. The CEO will receive mentorship, guidance and support in the role.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the culture of the hospital St Mary's as a Catholic health service, delivering compassionate care, providing a living example of the healing mission of Jesus

Leading the hospital team and encouraging high performance and innovation

Delivering results through effective financial, operational and strategic planning

Improving services through a commitment to customer service and patient safety

Setting the direction of the hospital in response to the identification of opportunities and gaps

Key Capabilities

Tertiary qualifications in commerce, finance, health or other related field with advanced degree preferred

Proven skills and experience in a leadership role

Demonstrated financial aptitude and extensive experience in managing budgets

Excellent people skills

Effective communication skills with a high proficiency in English

Previous experience in hospital management an advantage

Willingness to respect and give effect to Catholic social values
