Job Summary — Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide a wide range of communication expertise in media relations, social media management, reporting and editing, publishing, graphic design, photography, and communications training.

The role will facilitate the bringing together of people, processes, and technology to enable the Project to operationalize a broad field communications agenda for both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a communication strategy; develop, implement, review and improve the communications action plans;

  • Identify opportunities and raise awareness on the project's work with relevant stakeholders;

  • Support technical leads to prepare communication materials and case studies for use in reports, abstracts and documentation requests;

  • Capacity building on communications functions to the project teams (Staff, champions, youth, and women groups);

  • Provide technical assistance to annual advocacy and communication programs;

  • Help organize and/or attend relevant external meetings and events to represent the organization;

  • Act as a focal point for communications between project staff and development partners;

  • Raise organization profile by providing written content for the website and other social media platforms;

  • Develop, maintain and broadcast answers to Frequently Asked Questions;

  • Develop and share approved organization information with a variety of advocacy and communications documents such as fact sheets, press releases, blogs, op-eds, features etc;

  • Ensure the compilation, review, and production of publications and annual reports;

  • Assist in preparing speeches, articles, and other public relations material for the project Director and others;

  • Act as the lead graphic designer, branding and marking focal person, video producer and photographer.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Degree Graduate
    from a credible institution in Communications or a related field.

    • Proven experience in Communications.

    • Competence in use of most communication devises

    • 2 years' work experience in a similar position in a busy community development setting.

    • Good analytical and writing skills, including report writing

    • Advanced computing skills, relevant for a communication professional

    • Good spoken and written English

    • Creative and abreast with new communication skills and techniques

    • Strong organizational and time management skills

    • Willingness to travel locally, up to 50 % of time

    • Commitment to put equality, diversity and inclusion into practice

    • Understanding of and a commitment to safeguarding and child protection, in the local and international context
