Job Description

  • Assess, plan implement nursing interventions and evaluate patients’ outcome.

  • Prepare and perform several procedures such as dressing wounds and provide first aid to patients in case of emergencies.

  • Responsible for checking and updating the observation chart, nurse notes, pressure charts, drugs administration records and fluid charts for patient care.

  • Do the ward rounds with the doctor, ensuring adequate knowledge of patient to prove accurate information.

  • Monitor patients vital signs and general health

  • Take part in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency preparedness

  • Ensure a tidy and safe clinical environment to enhance good work environment.

  • Administer prescribed medicine to the patient as per doctor’s prescription.

  • Ensure appropriate referral of patients in cases that require advanced treatment.

  • Ensure proper disposal of used tools such as syringes and medicine to mitigate accidents.

  • Provide health education and counselling to clients / patients on identified health needs.

  • Refer patient and clients in consultation with the doctor to other hospitals for specialized care as appropriate.

  • Facilitate patients investigation and document as per doctors orders

  • Maintain records on patients / clients health condition and care for future reference and continuity of care.

  • Care of medical equipment in the ward

  • Facilitating patients’ admission and initiating discharge plans.

  • Responsible for students discipline while in the clinical
    area.

  • Provide advice and emotional support to the patient’s family members.

  • Maintain good relationship with the community, the rest of the clinical team and the other departments in the facility

  • Ensuring a safe environment for care of critical patients.

  • Ensures complete handover at the end of shift

  • Ensure drugs do not expire in the wards.
    Student mentorship

    Qualifications

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen.

  • Be a holder of a Diploma in KRCHN from KMTC OR other institution recognized by NCK Enrollment Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.

  • Possess valid practicing License from Nursing Council of Kenya.

  • Proficient in computer applications

  • Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Attention to details.

  • Able to deal with confidential information and follow set processes
