Context of the position

Job Summary

The Construction Unit has the main responsibility for all PSA funded construction projects (new, extensions, renovations, green projects and purchases of real estates in combination with construction modifications).

It guarantees that approved and agreed PSA funded construction projects are realized according approved volume and size, that construction works are implemented in time and within available budget and that SOS construction guidelines, procedures and quality standards and local construction laws are followed.

The Construction Assistant will assist the Regional Construction Project Manager to ensure timely and efficient delivery of all administrative and projects preparation and control during the implementation of the works.

    Key performance areas and main responsibilities:
  • Support RCPM in the preparation of programme proposals to cover the construction part (size and content of the project according SOS construction guidelines; estimate construction and other relevant costs).
  • Support the RCPM in ensuring efficiency in construction projects and in checking implementing construction policies, standards and processes.
  • Support the RCPM in the control of the execution of construction projects and local SOS site manager.
  • Support the RCPM in ensuring that standardised and tailor made information of construction projects is made available according to standards and agreements
    with financing PSAs.
  • Support the RCPM in all tender processes for both Consultants and Contractors
    Support the RCPM in monitoring, supervising and controlling the construction and maintenance projects implementation.
  • Support the RCPM in creating transparent reports to the construction progress, tracking actual cost estimations, checking the budget and other relevant information according construction progress.
  • Responsible for the progress report on construction activities and submission of such reports on monthly basis for the RCPM to know the progress on the construction sites.
  • Perform other duties as may be requested by the RCPM.

    Job Requirements

    Technical qualifications and personal skills:

  • 2/3 years of experience in the related work with demonstrated ability to meet the performance indicators and deliver results.
  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • MSc Civil Engineering desirable.
  • Knowledge of construction methodologies, read blueprints and understand other technical aspects of construction.
  • Knowledge of tendering process and award and works supervision management
  • Knowledge of the preparation of all project and works supervision documents
  • Knowledge of main software (Excel, Word, Autocad, Power Point, Gant Chart/Project Management)
  • An excellent command of both spoken and Written English
