Solidarities International (SI); is an international humanitarian aid association which, since more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their basic needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in some twenty countries, the SI teams – 2500 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at HQ, and a few volunteers - intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultural norms.

Main Responsibilities

- Maintain and improve the logistics structure of the mission - Juba national team, while separating logistics from administration tasks.

- Mitigate logistics costs by prioritizing groupage and/or mutualisation of transport, true anticipation and planning.

- Provide rigorous monitoring of logistics budget management.

- Be the main focal point and coordinate on all logistics issues between SI permanent and temporary bases, Juba and the SI headquarters in Paris.

- Ensure implementation of mitigation measures related to security.

- Ensure transportation of supplies from Juba to field operations, while planning with sufficient time in advance.

- Implement standards logistics tools according to SI logistic department Policy.

- Engage in external networking with other INGOs on logistics and security issues.

Priorities on the 2-3 first months

- Ensure the smooth launch of new projects, including the finalization of procurement plans
- Strengthening compliance and procedures monitoring
- Ensuring the implementation of new SI purchasing procedures
- Reinforce the logistics team by recruiting new positions and building capacity
- Monitor the logistical action plan for the mission
- In general, to support the increase in the volume of the mission
- Ensure that living conditions on the bases meet the minimum standard required by the organisation
Education / academic background:

High degree diploma is recommended (Generalist, Purchase, logistics related education, Bioforce).

Specific skills and experience:

Experiment in the humanitarian sector: +5 years

Experiment on a similar position: 0-2 years

Technical skills

1. Substantial experience in supply chain management (minimum 2 years).

2. Substantial experience in managing transportation aspects of operations, e.g. truck, barges, cargo boat, airplane charters (minimum 1 years)26/02/2024

3. Good organizational and coordination skills.

4. Master of the MS office pack, including Excel.

5. Ability to multitask and deal with stressful situations.

6. Capacity of negotiations with suppliers and authorities.

7. Substantial experience in management of team – both national staff and expatriates (minimum 2 years).

Transversal skills

1. Previous experiences with Solidarités International on support positions are strongly appreciated.

2. Previous experience in South Sudan or in a complex emergency is an asset.

3. A flexible approach to managing and prioritizing a high workload and multiple tasks with tight deadlines.

4. Good stress management.

5. Ability to take decisions and work in autonomy.

6. Strong capacity to ensure external coordination with multiple stakeholders in the humanitarian community

Language:

Fluent in English, written and spoken. Arabic is an asset.
