Solidarités International Head of Finance Department Jobs in Nigeria;The Head of Finance Department ensures financial stability of the country office, compliance with SI and donor procedures, and national laws.

They manage and coordinate accounting and financial services, acting as technical point of contact with headquarters.

Description of the Position

Strategy

  • Support the Country Director in defining and monitoring the annual programme.

  • Participate in monitoring and analysing the socio‑economic context.

  • Identify financial risks.

    Accounting Management

  • Approve monthly accounting package.

  • Ensure monthly closing schedule is followed.

  • Check quality and consistency of general and cost accounting.

  • Oversee annual financial close.

  • Monitor archiving of accounting documents.

  • Approve expenditure commitments and payments.

    Cash Flow Management

  • Ensure availability of cash for programmes.

  • Monitor and approve cash requirements of offices.

  • Consolidate cash flow forecast and send to HQ.

  • Track donor payments and follow up contributions.

  • Monitor partner payments.

  • Update cash management and security procedures.

    Budget Management

  • Chair budget monitoring meetings.

  • Approve updated budget monitoring reports.

  • Check and analyse bases’ budget reports.

  • Ensure Allocation Table is updated.

  • Send monthly finance pack to HQ.

    Budget Proposal

  • Guide outlines of project proposals.

  • Compile data and incorporate coordination costs.

  • Check consistency between budget, narrative and donor rules.

  • Ensure use of shared cost calculation tool.

    Donor Financial Reporting and Audit

  • Coordinate donor reporting with Grants & Partnerships.

  • Carry out analytical checks on expenditure.

  • Draft reports and ensure donor compliance.

  • Consolidate consortium reports and finalise budget.

  • Coordinate discussions with funders.

    Administrative Management and Representation

  • Monitor regulations and national tax legislation.

  • Maintain relations with authorities, NGOs and partners.

  • Attend meetings and workshops.

    Partnerships and Audits

  • Participate in external audits.

  • Oversee financial reporting within consortia.

  • Manage financial aspects of partnerships.

    Management

  • Analyse and assess HR needs of team.

  • Recruit and integrate team members.

  • Assess performance, train and support team.

  • Lead and communicate with team.

    Internal Control

  • Ensure compliance of documents produced.

  • Implement adequate internal controls.

  • Ensure compliance of processes.

    Follow‑Up on Recommendations

  • Implement recommendations within responsibility.

    Filing and Archiving

  • File and archive
    documents in line with procedures.

  • Ensure archiving procedures are in place.

    Fight Against Abuse

  • Contribute to a safe working environment.

  • Communicate SI’s ethical framework.

  • Respect protection of information in abuse notifications.

  • Implement measures to mitigate misconduct risks.

    Partnerships

  • Contribute to verification of SI partners.

  • Support capacity‑building plans for partners.

  • Monitor partners’ activities.

    Profile Forsaken

  • 3–4 years relevant experience (NGO/Private/Public sector) and 3–4 years progressive INGO experience.

  • Education: B.Sc. Finance, Economics, Business/Public Administration or related.

  • Languages: Fluency in English compulsory; Hausa an advantage.

  • Technical Skills: Excel and accounting software (SAGA preferred); budget design; strong financial analysis.

  • Transversal Skills: Work under pressure; patient, solution‑oriented; ability to communicate financial info clearly; knowledge of archiving.

  • Personal Qualities: Organised, prioritisation skills, good communication, assertive, detail‑oriented, stress‑resistant.

  • Qualified female candidates strongly encouraged.
