About the Organization
SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization operating in 26 countries, providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters through WASH, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), and Shelter interventions.
SI has been present in Nigeria since 2016 in the Northeast and since 2020 in the Northwest, with coordination in Abuja and operational bases in Maiduguri, Gusau, Monguno, Ngala, and Birnin Kebbi.
The Nigeria mission has an annual budget between USD 6–7 million and a workforce of approximately 147 staff.
Job Summary
The Finance Head of Department (Finance Coordinator) directs and coordinates all accounting and financial services associated with the mission.
The position is responsible for ensuring the financial balance of the mission and compliance with SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL procedures, donor regulations, and national laws.
The Finance HOD serves as the key financial focal point between headquarters and the mission regarding financial management, accounting, and budget monitoring.
The position directly manages the Finance Coordination Team, including a Deputy Head of Finance Department and a Senior Accountant.
Reports to the Country Director and works closely with Headquarters Finance Department, Department Heads, Field Coordinators, and Project Managers.
Key Challenges
Financial coordination of a mission with several sub-bases, including locations with limited access.
Ensuring financial sustainability of the mission within a constantly evolving donor environment.
Priorities for the First 2–3 Months
Financial reporting for terminated grants.
Proposal development and internal financial analysis.
Contributing to the definition of Financial Service Providers (FSPs) for Cash-Based Intervention (CBI) activities.
Capacity building and strengthening of finance teams at both coordination and field base levels.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector.
Minimum 3–4 years of experience in similar senior finance management positions.
Technical Skills
Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting software, preferably SAGA.
Ability to lead and design budgets for new proposals aligned with SI Nigeria strategy, donor compliance requirements, and collaborative planning processes.
Strong financial analytical skills with experience conducting monthly financial analysis.

Ability to work effectively under pressure.
Patient, self-controlled, and solution-oriented approach.
Ability to present and explain financial information clearly to different audiences.
Strong interdepartmental coordination and collaboration skills.
Languages
Fluent English (mandatory).
French is an added advantage.
Security Context
No walking policy applies throughout the country.
Abuja operates under Security Level 2.
Maiduguri, Kebbi, and Gusau operate under Security Level 3.
Sub-bases in Borno and Zamfara States operate under Security Level 4, requiring strict compliance with security protocols and restricted movement procedures.
