Solidarités International Field Coordinator - SOBAT Jobs in South Sudan; The Field Coordinator will be responsible for the management of projects in Sobat, with active programming focused on emergency and early recovery WASH and emergency FSL support. The role acts as delegated Country Director (CD) for a region of South Sudan where Solidarités International intervenes.
The Field Coordinator proposes a regional strategy according to the geopolitical and humanitarian context, ensures implementation once validated, and guarantees projects are carried out in accordance with SI’s charter, procedures, and donor requirements. The FC mobilizes resources, supervises teams, ensures security, and represents SI externally.
Responsibilities
Propose and implement regional strategy aligned with humanitarian context and SI charter
Ensure projects comply with internal and contractual procedures
Mobilize material and financial resources and supervise resource management
Coordinate teams and ensure staff security in assigned zone
Act as direct contact and representative of the Country Director
Issues and Specific Challenges:
Resume activities in Sobat corridor after evacuation in February
Lead engagement with authorities, political stakeholders, communities, NGOs, and UN in areas where SI is not present
Address security and access concerns in areas experiencing violence and open conflict
Manage logistical challenges linked to access and geography
Establish a physical base location despite current lack of facilities
Overcome communication difficulties in remote locations
Priorities in First 2–3 Months:
Propose clear intervention modality (mobile vs. static)
Resume activities
Develop short-term base strategy
Security Constraints:
Malakal: curfew at 6 pm, movement possible within humanitarian hub and UNMISS compound (except PoC)
Volatile situation in South Sudan; base rules to be set once presence secured
Risks include open conflict, intra-communal
violence, looting, theft, and isolation if river access is closed
Qualifications
Master’s degree in humanitarian/development studies, social sciences, management, or related discipline
Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in the humanitarian sector
3–4 years’ experience in similar positions
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge in team management and mentoring
Ability to manage multiple issues and adapt quickly in evolving environments
Capacity to prioritize high workload and tight deadlines
Strong representational skills and ability to liaise with INGOs, agencies, authorities, and donors
Solid understanding of security management
Knowledge of humanitarian issues including IDPs, camp management, protection, and advocacy
Ability to write/edit quality reports in English
Transversal Skills:
Ability to work in multicultural environments with strong cultural sensitivity
Willingness to work in volatile security contexts
Initiative, autonomy, and decision-making ability
Strong problem-solving skills in daily and crisis situations
Flexibility and adaptability
Experience with SI or similar organizations an asset
Prior experience in South Sudan an asset
Good stress management
Languages:
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Arabic an asset
