Currently SNV Ethiopia is working in the eight+ regional states of Ethiopia which includes– Addis Ababa, Afar, Somali, Gambella, Benishangul, SNNPR, Oromia, Amhara and Tigray regional states, providing technical assistance and program implementation in the major 3 sectors including Agriculture, WASH and Energy.

This takes a value chain development approach, with special focus on improving access to sustainable markets for smallholder farmers and by developing business-to-business relations and improving business development services.

Project

SNV’s “WASHTRA” project aims at increasing coverage of improved sanitation and hygiene in rural areas, including schools and elimination of Trachoma burden in Oromia region specific woredas.

The project is aim to improve documentation, learning, profiling the work of the project and so that of SNV to enhance communication as one of the very important pillar for a timely information dissemination.

In particular, the WASHTRA project has planned to produce at least two high quality cases stories supported with best photograph and video clips from e project woredas every year.

This is also one of the top priority of SNV Ethiopia more specifically WASH sector for 2019.

With this plan, WASHTRA project would like to engage a qualified and experienced individual or firm to undertake a four day training for WASH sector staff in September 2019.

Objectives of the training

The objective of the training is to build the capacity of WASHTRA staff by

  • Equipping trainees with relevant knowledge and skills for developing high quality and standard case study and story with special emphasis on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene as well as last mile focusing on trachoma elimination

  • Equipping trainees with skills of high resolution photography and filming with special emphasis on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene as well as last mile focusing on as well as last mile focusing on trachoma elimination

  • Provide trainees with an opportunity to learn with role plays and practical field attachment to the
    nearest WASH project sites, produce sample cases and stories with exceptional photographs and video clips;

  • Trainees present their cases/stories to the plenary and enrich with feedback from colleagues and trainer/s.

    Job Requirements

    Education

    The selected individual or firm conducting the training must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • BA degree sociology, journalism, behavioral sciences or other relevant fields to this assignment;

    Experiences

  • A team or individual professional/s or firm should have at least 5 years in a track record of conducting similar trainings most specifically related to water, sanitation and hygiene

  • Proven experience in qualitative research more specifically development of cases, stories, etc. related to projects such as WASH and NTD;

  • Outstanding photography skills to practically demonstrate in the field;

  • Outstanding videography skills to practically demonstrate in the field;

  • Outstanding photo and video editing skills; narration, translation and writing subtitles to video clips;

  • Proven ability to work in multicultural environment.

  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and in providing training/capacity building support on WASH sector;

  • Having vast experience in training for the adult as well as well-employed participatory training methods. Hands-on experience in development of training programme, training documents and skills in training, facilitation;

  • Very good communication and presentation skills.
