Job Purpose

The Optometrist will be required to conduct the following duties:

• Assist in developing and implementing the strategic goals and initiatives of the company

• Source for cost-effective suppliers

• Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory
requirements

Summary of Key Responsibilities

• Examine eyes, using observation and instruments, to determine visual acuity and perception, focus and coordination and to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities such as glaucoma or color blindness

• Analyse test results and develop a treatment plan

• Prescribe, supply, fit and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses and other vision aids

• Supervise optical staff members including optical technicians, cashier, receptionist etc.

• Ensure that the Company’s operations are efficient

and effective as to advance the profit and other objectives of the company – Full P&L responsible

• Maintain appropriate inventory on frames and lenses

• Quality reporting and analysis, while making recommendations and advices to management and assisting with the implementation of these recommendations to improve performance

• Ensuring that all internal and external audit recommendations are promptly and timely addressed

• Educate and counsel patients on contact lens care, visual hygiene, lighting arrangements and safety factors

• Consult with and refer patients to ophthalmologist or other health care practitioner if additional medical treatment is determined necessary

• Good organisational skills

• Patience to carry out repetitive tasks

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Optometry

• Any Business qualification or MBA will be an added advantage

• 3 years or more working experience
