Job Summary

  • Under the supervision of the SIHA Wau Capacity Building Advisor, Project Officer and Regional Projects Officer, and in close collaboration with SIHA Program team in Wau and Juba and the Regional Office, the Projects Assistant herein referred to as ‘PA’ will be responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and documentation of the SIHA projects currently in Wau.

    Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To support in planning, coordination and implementation of all project activities in collaboration with the South Sudan team and under the supervision of the Area Coordinator or the Capacity Building Advisor or the South Sudan Projects Officer.

  • Support the preparation of project documents as required, including but not limited to concept notes, activity reports, budget requests, and assist in the preparation of regular reports to the donors.

  • To provide quality assurance by performing regular monitoring visits of project activities and submit the completed monitoring report according to the monitoring plan.

  • To contribute to donor reports and assist in advocacy and communication activities.

  • To lead a smaller projects with the support of the line manager. During this contract period, the Project Assistant will lead on the UNFPA project.

  • Conduct community outreach and represent SIHA in community forums, in project related coalition meetings, in community events while building relationships with local organizations and initiatives;

  • Develop and submit a monthly implementation plan for the projects supported.

    Candidate Key Competencies

  • University-level education in human rights, women’s rights, project management, development / humanitarian studies,
    gender studies, law, or a related field;

  • Experience working in the human rights / non-governmental organization sector, with ability to provide relevant references;

  • Expressed interested in gender and women’s rights / empowerment and improving conditions for women and girls in the Horn of Africa;

  • Hard-worker, with ability to put in extra hours during peak periods of activity;

  • Proven knowledge of local-level political / social / cultural dynamics;

  • Proven knowledge of local-level stakeholders, persons of influence, and the ability to liaise with these actors in reference to SIHA work in the region;

  • Ability to travel regionally as required;
