Sign of Hope Area Manager Jobs in South Sudan;The Area Manager supports the Country Representative – South Sudan in strengthening programme and project oversight across humanitarian, development and human rights programming.

The role provides hands‑on support to implementation, grant management, partner coordination, stakeholder engagement, monitoring, reporting, documentation, learning and compliance.

Core Duties

Programme, Project Cycle and Grant Oversight

  • Support day‑to‑day oversight of SoH projects ensuring alignment with proposals, workplans, budgets and donor requirements.

  • Maintain follow‑up with partners and project teams on progress, deliverables and reporting deadlines.

  • Undertake field monitoring visits to assess quality, accountability and risks.

  • Apply project cycle management across assessment, design, planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and closure.

  • Support donor compliance, review partner deliverables and grant records.

  • Monitor budget utilization and variances with Finance and partners.

  • Prepare timely donor reports and maintain audit‑ready documentation.

  • Support humanitarian needs assessments and emergency response coordination.

    Partner Capacity, Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Undertake capacity assessments of local partners.

  • Support partner capacity‑strengthening plans.

  • Maintain structured communication and performance monitoring with partners.

  • Support relationships with government, communities, civil society, UN agencies, NGOs and donors.

  • Represent SoH in coordination meetings and forums when delegated.

  • Support stakeholder mapping and maintain updated understanding of actors and opportunities.

    Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning and Reporting

  • Support establishment of monitoring systems and tools.

  • Review partner reports for completeness and accuracy.

  • Ensure findings, feedback and lessons are documented and used for improvement.

  • Prepare clear, analytical reports, briefing notes and documentation.

  • Facilitate sharing of lessons learned and good practices.

    Human
    Rights, Humanitarian Quality and Accountability


  • Support implementation of human rights projects and rights‑based approaches.

  • Promote adherence to humanitarian principles, safeguarding and accountability.

  • Ensure sensitive information is handled with confidentiality and dignity.

  • Escalate significant programme or protection concerns promptly.

    Visibility, Communications and Fundraising Support

  • Identify programme results, human‑interest stories and case studies.

  • Identify fundraising opportunities and communicate to Country Representative.

  • Develop high‑quality written content for donor engagement and communications.

  • Support collection of photos, videos and testimonials with informed consent.

  • Ensure compliance with donor visibility requirements.

    Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Project Management, Humanitarian Action, Human Rights, Law, Social Sciences, Public Health, Agriculture or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project/programme implementation or management in humanitarian/development contexts.

  • Practical experience in emergency response, recovery, resilience or nexus programming.

  • Experience with human rights programming an advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of project cycle management.

  • Experience with institutional donor grants; BMZ and GFFO strongly preferred.

  • Proven partner coordination and capacity strengthening experience.

  • Good understanding of grant compliance, budget monitoring and results‑based M&E.

  • Excellent communication and report‑writing skills.

  • Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills; ability to work independently.

  • Experience supporting visibility and communications desirable.

  • Knowledge of humanitarian principles, safeguarding and rights‑based approaches.

  • Advanced MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • Excellent English; local languages an advantage.

  • Willingness to travel frequently to remote locations and work in insecure environments.
