Shining Hope For Communities Scholarship Coordinator Jobs in Kenya; The Scholarship Coordinator will run and manage SHOFCO’s scholarship program, ensuring vulnerable girls receive wraparound support to enroll, attend school, and thrive.
Serving as “boots on the ground” support, the Coordinator will act as a bridge between SHOFCO, schools, scholars, and families to build authentic relationships and ensure comprehensive support.
The role is embedded within SHOFCO’s Urban Network (SUN) approach to community organizing, keeping scholar identification and support strongly grassroots‑based.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Build & Manage Relationships

  • Liaise with SUN Committees and school leadership for onboarding and continuous support.

  • Work with SUN and Gender departments to identify eligible students.

  • Collaborate with Scholarship Officer and facilitators to deliver mentorship and holiday programming.

  • Engage families to build their capacity to support scholars’ learning and well‑being.

  • Develop partnerships with local organizations and government institutions supporting vulnerable girls.

    2. Case Management & Scholar Welfare
  • Implement scholar welfare and mentorship.

  • Engage parents/guardians to ensure enrollment and address arising issues.

  • Identify students at risk of dropping out or needing psychosocial support.

  • Onboard new scholarship students and families to program policies.

  • Partner with SUN committees to foster community accountability.

  • Escalate
    cases to Gender department when needed.

    3. Data Management & MEL Support
  • Manage recruitment pipeline and collect streamlined data.

  • Conduct audits and maintain updated scholar data.

  • Ensure timely submission of required documents.

  • Support data collection through home and school visits.

  • Plan home visits and maintain scholarship database.

    4. Support Innovation
  • Contribute to process evaluations and improve program delivery.

  • Provide insights to enhance programmatic impact and efficiency.

    Required Skills

  • Data manipulation, analysis, and management.

  • Networking.

    Qualifications
  • Minimum Diploma in education, social sciences, or related field (Bachelor’s an advantage).

  • Certification in counselling.

  • At least 2 years’ experience in educational programs or community‑based organizations supporting youth.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with students, staff, community leaders, schools, and government officials.

  • Professional, proactive, and results‑driven.

  • Detail‑oriented, well‑organized, and able to thrive in fast‑paced environments.
