Shining Hope For Communities Librarian Jobs in Kenya;The Librarian is responsible for managing library information materials and serving library clients in line with SHOFCO’s mission to provide education in slum areas.

Key Responsibilities & Job Dimensions

Research and select library materials.

Develop special programs such as outreach initiatives.

Prepare budgetary information and reports.

Ensure prompt opening of the library at appointed times.

Catalogue, classify and maintain materials using barcodes and call numbers.

Manage users in the library to meet their needs.

Analyze user needs and provide appropriate books.

Enter and update data in the library system.

Return books to shelves and repair damaged books.

Induct new program users and provide reference information.

Ensure the library environment is conducive for learning.

Job Competencies

Academic Qualifications

Certificate in Library & Information Science.

Professional Qualifications

Not applicable.

Other Requirements

Minimum 1 year’s experience in library services.

Record management skills advantageous.

Ability to manage a library and its collection.

Functional Skills

Articulating information.

Examining information.

Generating ideas.

Checking details.

Behavioural Competencies

Directing people.

Valuing individuals.

Following procedures.

Inviting feedback.
