Job Description

Short Description of the Position

Shayashone is engaged in agribusiness advisory service and social marketing. The company has recently added hermetic bags and household water treatment solutions to its portfolio and would like to step-up its market penetration to rural areas by deploying youth reseller model and expanding its vendor ship network.

Both of these products are recognized by bureau of agriculture and natural resources and bureau of health as vital solutions for rural households in relation to crop storage and safe drinking water.

Shayashone PLC is looking for an officer who will be supporting the project team to achieve key milestones. The Project officer Reports to the Project Manager based in Addis. S/he will be traveling to sites regularly.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Participate in attracting new customers at the bottom of the pyramid.
  • Responsible for developing new businesses at grass root for the social impact products.
  • Network with various national and regional partners and promote company products and services.
  • Participate developing proposals for international project funding

    Project coordination]

  • Take a lead in one of the social impact projects the company has.
  • Coordinate community awareness events to demonstrate the project’s products.
  • Scope, select and manage distributors on pricing and display of products.
  • Responsible for developing marketing tools and materials once the business takes off.
  • Coordinate village, market and other community demonstrations in target weredas.

    Training, Coaching and Demonstration

  • Scope, select and manage vendors and youth on pricing and display of products.
  • Responsible for coaching vendors and youth resellers’ network.
  • Back stop vendors and youth resellers to sell more through on-site demonstrations.

    Reporting and communication

  • Responsible for all data compilation and reporting of own lead project.
  • Regularly communicate to management and clients as and when needed.
  • Leadership and Management Competences
  • Excellent communication skills in Amharic and English.
  • Hands-on and pro-active approach.
  • Sound diplomatic, influence and persuasion skills to sell products and services.
  • Outstanding skills in planning, organizing and reporting.
  • Strong ability to organize communities.
  • Champions in fostering partnership and stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to perform under stress with minimal supervision and able to handle multiple tasks at a time in calm and organized manner.

    Technical Competencies

  • Outstanding in organizing, analysing and interpreting data.
  • Ability to plan, execute and communicate.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint packages.


    Job Requirements

    Education, Work experience and Language

  • BA in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Project Management, Agricultural Extension and related fields.
  • At least 2 years hands on experience preferably in private company.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and Amharic languages is a must. Speaking Afan Oromo is a plus.
  • Previous experience in agricultural project is a plus.
