Key Responsibilities

Financial Management
  • Responsible for routine financial accounting functions including processing and recording all transactions in line with organisational policy, EU accounting standards, and compliance to policies and Kenyan legislation, ensuring timeliness, efficiency and completeness;
  • Responsible for checking the accuracy and validity of documents submitted by partners and prepare a schedule to be used for posting entries on PS Financials (PSF);
  • Review partner’s monthly bank and ledger reconciliations, financial templates, reports and other statements;
  • Review the monthly payments requests against the budget and cash flow projections and follow up on the disbursement of funds to partners;
  • Prepare monthly wage analysis of all partners balances and follow up on overdue liquidations;
  • Prepare a month work plan and share with the Programme Manager and Head of Finance and Administration.

    Self Help Africa Financial Inclusion Officer, Cassava Value Chain Programme Jobs in Kenya

    Key Responsibilities

  • Identifying best practice and trends, including role of technology, within the programme and innovative financial services business models serving the poor in various sectors such as agri finance, SME finance and climate finance;
  • Contribute to the development of a programme financial inclusion strategy and upscaling of affordable low cost rural solutions for financial and non-financial services;
  • Participate in the building of partnerships for the promotion of access to finance and collaborate with commercial and non-commercial partners that seek to deliver appropriate and affordable non-financial or financial services to smallholder farmers;
  • Participate in the development of a capacity building plan for financial institutions, to create an efficient platform for the provision of access and financial inclusion solutions to underserved populations in Kenya;

    Self Help Africa Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant, Cassava Value Chain Programme Jobs in Kenya

    Key Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the M&E Co-ordinator establish a sound M&E system, including frameworks and plans that will ensure effective tracking of projects and programme progress.
  • Provide programme oversight on implementation of the M and E systems and tools
  • Ensure monitoring and Evaluation systems, tools, data collection, data cleaning, data entry and data storage are appropriately implemented by partner staff.
  • To support project staff and implementing partners to manage and maintain project database system.
  • Develop a capacity building plan. Identify the capacity needs of implementing partners and support the M&E Co-ordinator in building the capacity of implementing partners on Monitoring and Evaluation processes
  • Maintain a backup database as well as filling systems for all programme data, reports, photographs and documentaries for future references
  • In liaison with the M and E Coordinator, coordinate programme level surveys, evaluations and researches
  • Contribute to the preparation of programme visibility/marketing material and participate in the development of scoping document, fund raising and resource mobilization.
  • Support the finance team in monitoring the programme budget and ensure that programme reports are in line with
    financial reports
  • Prepare timely monthly & quarterly reports as required by SHA and the donor
  • Undertake visits to the field throughout the programme implementation period, as needed to support and/ or supervise data collection or verify data quality;
  • Any other duties as assigned by the M&E Coordinator.

    Self Help Africa Programme Manager, Cassava Value Chain Programme Jobs in Kenya

    Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management of all aspects of the programme cycle: design, planning, implementation, quality and accountability, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Work in close liaison with implementing partners and other stakeholders including SHA programme staff to coordinate coherent and consistent delivery of the programme objectives;
  • Manage the programme budget in close collaboration with the Head of Programmes and Head of Finance
  • Compile periodic programme reports as required by the donor and SHA;
  • Ensure effective integration of core technical areas – Nutrition, Social Inclusion, Enterprise Development, Agriculture and Natural Resource Management
  • Strengthen the capacity of partner’s/farmers’ associations/cooperatives/MSMEs to identify sustainable economic opportunities;
  • Ensure compliance by SHA and partners with contract requirements in planning, financial management, procurement, monitoring and reporting, and facilitate further training where necessary.
  • Advise on technical aspects of market/value chain development in the programme as required;

    Self Help Africa Project Officer, Cassava Value Chain Programme Jobs in Kenya

    Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the implementation of all aspects of the programme in their respective geographical areas, including detailed work planning and implementation and monitoring together with partner staff.
  • Work with the partner organizations to ensure that the monthly plans are implemented as per the approved budgets and activity lines.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on the project implementation activities.
  • Provide appropriate and timely updates to key stakeholders including the Head of Programmes, and Programme Manager on project implementation.
  • Maintain project files and related documentation
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant SHA and EU policies (gender and social inclusion policy) during implementation of project activities.
  • In collaboration with the Partner staff work closely with Government institutions at the County level to support SHAs work.
  • In liaison with the M&E officers, document and share lessons learned and best practices with partners, stakeholders and SHA.
