SBM Bank UI/UX Designer, Digital Channels Jobs in Kenya;This role sits within the Products & Innovations unit and works closely with Business teams, Product Owners, Developers, and stakeholders to transform business requirements into elegant, user‑friendly digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Design & Prototyping – translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.

  • UI Development – create high‑fidelity designs, graphical interface elements, and responsive layouts across platforms.

  • Design Systems – develop and maintain scalable, consistent design systems.

  • Customer Journey Mapping – lead workshops, document journeys, and roll out across teams.

  • Usability Testing – plan and conduct sessions, iterate designs based on feedback.

  • Customer Experience Review – analyze digital experiences using analytics, feedback, and usability metrics.

  • Accessibility & Inclusive Design – ensure compliance with WCAG and design for diverse needs.

  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration – partner with business users, product owners, and developers.

  • Data‑Driven Iteration – use A/B testing, heatmaps, and analytics to refine experiences.

  • Innovation – contribute to ideation workshops and explore emerging technologies (AI personalization, conversational interfaces, voice UI).

  • Performance Optimization – monitor UI responsiveness and accessibility scores.

  • Stakeholder Engagement – communicate design decisions clearly and advocate for design thinking.

  • Mentorship – support junior designers and foster design excellence.

    Work Experience & Exposure

  • 3–4 years’ experience in UX within busy development environments, preferably financial services (mobile banking, APIs, open banking).

  • Experience handling multiple concurrent projects.

  • Deep knowledge of user research, usability studies, surveys, and journey mapping.

  • Knowledge of financial industry, fintech, or telecom is a
    plus.

  • Experience designing responsive, cross‑platform interfaces (mobile‑first, web, USSD).

  • Awareness of regulatory, security, and compliance in digital banking (data privacy, authentication).

  • Strong understanding of visual elements (layout, typography, hierarchy, colour theory).

  • Proficiency in design tools: Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator.

  • Strong communication and relationship management skills.

  • Familiarity with front‑end technologies (HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript) is an advantage.

  • Experience with design‑to‑development handoff tools (Zeplin, Figma Inspect, design tokens).

  • Applicants must submit a sample UI/UX portfolio.

    Key KPIs & Outcomes

  • Monitor usability metrics and customer feedback for mobile and internet banking.

  • Drive digital channel adoption rate.

  • Increase conversion of branch transactions to digital channels.

  • Reduce transaction abandonment rate.

  • Improve app reviews on AppStore/PlayStore.

    Academic Qualifications & Soft Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT or related fields.

  • Certificate in Human‑Centered Design or related area.

  • Strong presentation and business writing skills.

  • Knowledge of front‑end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript concepts) is an added advantage.
