Project Manager

Save the Children International is inviting applications from suitably qualified personnel to fill the position of Project Manager. Save the Children has just secured a two-year funding from Momentum Country and Global Leadership (MCGL) whose back donor is USAID through Lead Partner-Jhpiego Corporation to implement a Strategic Planning Advisors for Education and School Health in Africa (SPAEHSA) project.

The project intends to work with ministries of education and health and global, regional, and local school health partners to strengthen systems for health programming in schools. Participants (including Malawi) in this two-year project will benefit from and contribute to the global evidence on health in schools. The Project Manager will be responsible for liaising with government and CSOs to develop, monitor, and implement a School Health Policy Strengthening Plan. The incumbent will also coordinate with key national ministries that feed into school health policy and implementation, specifically education and health.

The project manager will also communicate with key local partners, school management committees, teachers, and local health leaders to compare policy and practice. The Project manager will liaise with relevant stakeholders from civil society and technical expert in Country. The Project Manager will contribute to global learning on the process of strengthening school health policies, as well as how SHN has been leveraged to enable stronger COVID-19 response in the health and education sector.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Health, Nutrition, Development Studies or equivalent.
  • Certificate or any additional qualification in program management is an added advantage.
  • Recommended a minimum of 10-year experience in government, corporate or NGO environment managing health and/or nutrition projects.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Malawi context especially on intersection of education, health and nutrition policies, strategies and programs.
  • Experience working with the Ministry of Education or Ministry of Health at national and subnational levels.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
  • Experience of managing and shaping programs to deliver greater quality and of strengthening the capacity of partners.
  • Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written, required.
  • Thorough understanding of SCI working principles and approaches of Child Participation, Child Rights Programming,
  • Partnership, Child Safeguarding, Zero Tolerance, Monitoring and Evaluation, Programme Integration etc- would be an added advantage.
  • Ability to intervene
    with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
  • Excellent planning, coordination and reporting skills, with the ability to organize a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities
  • Computer literacy and excellent communication, documentation skills are a must.


    Desired:

    · Master's degree

    · Experience on field based SHN projects

    · Experience in health and nutrition research and/or uptake

    Location: Lilongwe

    Contract Duration: 1 Year 5 Months
