In Uganda, we implement programmes in five thematic programme areas of Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Education, Child Poverty, Health and Nutrition in Development and Emergency contexts. Save the Children delivers programs in over 36 districts in the North, Rwenzori, North-Eastern, West Nile and Central regions of Uganda. We save children’s lives. We fight for their rights. We help them fulfil their potential.

The post holder provides overall programmatic and operational lead and management including; planning, implementation, capacity enhancement, monitoring/ evaluation and reporting both internally (within SCI) and externally with stakeholders. The person is accountable for overall coordination and oversight delivery of the ECHO 4 award to be implemented in a consortium

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree, and preferably post-graduate university degree, in subject related to education or project planning and management.
  • At least 5 years demonstrated experience in Project planning and management, particularly in a humanitarian context.
  • Experience in leading and managing staff and teams.
  • Technical expertise in either education or child protection in emergencies.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing education or child protection consortium projects
  • Demonstrated experience in documentation and Donor reporting
  • Demonstrated monitoring and evaluation skills
  • Ability to work both in an advisory and a hands on implementation capacity
  • Excellent communication skills

    Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or higher in either Education, Social Work or Development studies. A Postgraduate training/Advanced degree in the related field, Social sciences/social works, or Management is an added advantage.
  • Experience in Basic Education, community literacy and youth programming is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant working experience in a similar position in an NGO. Experience working with agricultural and livelihoods programs especially in Literacy, numeracy skills development, Adolescent reproductive health issues and Community governance programme.
  • Strong documentation, advocacy, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Ability to speak local language (Luo) and directly interact with target group will be an added advantage
  • Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
  • Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
  • Excellent time management and planning capacity.

    Save the Children NGO Project Manager Northern Uganda Basic Education-NUBE-National Contract Jobs in Uganda

    Reporting directly to the Area Manager, the jobholder is responsible and accountable for the overall management and implementation of education programme, development, new partnership initiation, development and management, programme budgeting, budgetary and financial management, programme and financial reporting, human resources management, and administrative trouble shooting and support within the region.

    Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Education, Economics, Social Science or Development studies. Experience in livelihood and youth programming will be an added advantage. Postgraduate training/Advanced degree in the related field, Social sciences/social works, or Management is an added advantage
  • A minimum of Eight years working experience in livelihood and youth empowerment related program or protection in Uganda (preferably with an International NGO).
  • Experience in managing a budget of at least US$ 700,000
  • Experience of working with local partners and District Local Government in production, Education, and community based services
  • Strong monitoring, evaluation and accountability skills
  • Strong management of donor communications and visibility.
  • Ability to speak local language (Luo) and directly interact with target group will be an added advantage
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
  • Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
