Role Purpose:

Job Summary:

Mid-wifery based at each intervention sites of Gedeo woredas, will be responsible to implement the life-saving interventions component of the humanitarian health assistance project for Internally Displaced People (IDP), people returned to their original places and for hard to reach areas in SNNPR in Gedeb,Bule and Wenago districts.

S/he will provide technical support to health facilities including health posts as well as participate in carrying out essential lifesaving primary health care services. The incumbent expected to work in collaboration with the district health offices, local stakeholders, staffs of Save the children and partners for effective implementation and monitoring of the project activities.

Job Specific Roles and Responsibilities

Key Areas of Accountability:

Specific Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the district health facilities and provide technical assistance and participate in conducting maternal and reproductive health in emergency in west-Guji zone’s district.

  • Provide technical support and participate in carrying out all components of MNCH packages (ANC, PNC, FP, PMTCT, labor and delivery, EPI) in West-Guji zone’s district.

  • Participate in static clinic and/or Mobile Health and Nutrition Team to provide essential lifesaving primary health care services to displaced people and people who have no access to health services.

  • Work in collaboration with the district health facilities including health posts and provide technical support to health workers for the delivery of emergency and primary health care services such as IMNCI, ICCM and CBNC activities to the internally displaced people, returnees, and people who have no access to the services.

  • Provide essential lifesaving primary health care services to Internally Displaced people, people returned
    to their original areas and SGBV victims who have no access to primary health care services, returnees and remaining IDPs.

  • Provide technical support to health workers and participate in basic and fundamental nursing care, counselling, and treatment for sexually Gender Based Violence victims.

  • Makes sure that the health staff have adequate training on key maternal and child health activities per national manual/protocol,

  • Ensures the availability of job aids, reporting formats, therapeutic products and drugs for program implementation at health facility level.

  • Follow and ensures, action taken by all responsible parties on gaps identified during supervision.

  • Supports and liaise with local health staffs and provide on the job training/coaching and capacity building where required.

  • Undertake individual evaluations with the team and improve gaps.

  • Makes sure that health professionals from the health facilities to participate on the daily routine work for sustainability and smooth phase out strategy,

  • Organizes Weekly, monthly, Quarterly reports and report on time to the project coordinator and provide updates when needed.

  • Reports any problems in a timely manner to the project coordinator.

  • Upholds the image and values of Save the Children at all times.

  • Performs other related tasks as required.

    Job Requirements

    Qualifications

  • Degree in midwifery fields 2 years for BSc and 4 years for Diploma.

  • Previous experience and training on BEmONC.

  • Experience of pervious temporary static clinic and /or MHNT experiences.

  • Demonstrable experience in supervising, coaching and mentoring others.

  • Demonstrable experience in working with communities and knowledge of participatory approaches.

    Skills/Ability required:

  • Demonstrated skills in program planning, implementation and monitoring.

  • Demonstrated skills in peer group training, Training of Trainers.

  • Strong computer (Microsoft skills), all and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Willingness to work under pressure and extra hours.
