Role Purpose:

The Livelihood Zonal Coordinator is responsible for the management of project activities at zones and community levels in areas of Tanquabergele, Kolatemben,Hawzen and Saesie-tsaedaemba weredas.

The Livelihood Zonal Coordinator is expected to improve planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting processes as they pertain to Education Integrated with Livelihood program activities.

He/she is expected to works closely with the government structure and other team members of project and related programs to ensure the program integration at all levels.

S/he is also expected to track physical implementation against activity plan and budget utilization allocated for project activities.

The position holder will provide livelihood related technical support at the intervention areas and ensure the quality implementation of the program activities. She /he expected to ensure integration of education with livelihood activities.

S/he ensures efficient and timely implementation of activities as per the approved operational plan, regularly supervise and/or facilitate trainings at woreda/community level, facilitate joint supervision and share and document challenges, lessons and best practices faced during implementation.

S/he is responsible to maintain close contact and liaise with Woreda/ offices and Regional Agriculture Bureau to ensure collaborative work.

He is expected to ensure achievement quality benchmarks of the program quality of documentation at wereda and’ tabia’ levels. S/he is responsible for timely production and submission of success stories, reports and other deliverables on time.

Reports to: Project Manager -Education integrated with Livelihood

Key Areas of Accountability

  • Prepares implementation plan and participates in annual budget development for the program
  • Coordinates and technically supports woreda, and local stakeholders to assess needs related to livelihoods to enhance the implementation of project activities.
  • Develops terms of reference and facilitates trainings, meetings, and joint supportive supervision visits that will be conducted at woreda and community levels.
  • Submits training reports,
    review meeting proceedings, and field travel reports to project manager timely for documentation.
  • Ensures the Integration of Education and Livelihood activities at community/school levels.
  • In collaboration with the project team, contribute to developed team spirit among project staff
  • Provide technical support at grassroots level and work closely with DA to provide technical assistance to the project livelihood beneficiaries
  • Ensures the livelihood agendas are highlighted by school principals at woredas and schools level
  • In collaboration with MEAL manager, ensure livelihood beneficiary data base system is developed and enter activity data accurately and correctly. He is expected to crosscheck and verify data entered into the database for accuracy and edits as required; and analyses and use data.
  • Ensures beneficiary selection considers active involvement of CCA to ensure the selection and screening address the pro-poor principle and resources allocated reach the right beneficiaries, for the right objective, and in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that all Save the Children polices, rules and regulations are strictly followed during day to day program operations.
  • Collaborate with partners who are working on livelihoods and government sectors to ensure planning and implementation of the project.
  • Implements gender-sensitive activities related to the designed livelihood activities at level
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports, document and share lessons, challenges and best practices regularly
  • Performs other related tasks as required.

    Job Requirements

    Essential

  • Minimum of first degree in livestock and other related fields of study
  • At least 4 years of experience in implementing in related programs in Ethiopia.
  • Excellent and demonstrated computer skills Microsoft office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Competency in spoken and written English and Tigrigna language
  • An understanding and commitment to Save the Children values.

    Desirable
  • Experience/knowledge and good understanding on livelihood issues
  • Experience in conducting trainings, training of trainers, and organizational capacity building is an Asset.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as the proven ability to work collaboratively with community organizations and stakeholders
  • Knowledge and learning ability to integrate gender
  • Demonstrated skills in partnership building and interpersonal communication.
  • Experience in NGO setup
  • Committed for frequent field work
  • Excellent in report writing skills
  • Experience working in the region and understanding of local context
