Job Title

  • Gates Anchor III Health & Nutrition Advocacy Project Coordinator

    Role purpose

    Save the Children International is seeking for competent Project Coordinator for its BMGF funded project in Afar region to provide support to the implementation of health and nutrition activities in Afar regional state.

    The project particularly aims at supporting the revitalization and implementation of the Pastoralist Health Extension Programme (PHEP) and the food and nutrition policy to improve access and availability of essential health and nutrition services to the most vulnerable children in Afar region.

    Key Areas of Accountability:

  • Undertake timely preparation of detail implementation plan of the project in the region
  • Prepare and submit timely, complete and quality quarterly and annual reports
  • Maintain good working relationships with the regional health and other key bureaus and decision makers and participate in BMGF and health and nutrition related meetings at the regional level
  • Coordinate with other SC teams at the field office and other similar health and nutrition projects/programmes to ensure integration of complimentarity of health and nutrition programmes
  • Coordinate with field office MEAL team to collect, analyse and prepare reports and share key achievements/changes
  • Develop and maintain good working relations with Health and Nutrition partners, NGOs/CSOs, CBOs and coalitions in Afar
  • In consultation with the Project Manager, and other teams organize regular meetings, dialogue forums and learning and sharing platforms to discuss on progress updates, challenges and ways forward
  • Facilitate project assessments, evaluations and other reviews required
  • Facilitate and support the coordination of assessments, situation/context analysis and development of strategy documents and
    plans pertaining to this project at the regional level
  • Coordinate training and other events under the BMGFAnchor III grant in Afar
    Liaise with the Bureau of Health, Planning, and Finance and Economic Cooperation and other relevant government agencies for better synergy and harmonization
  • Prepare and submit Annual/Biannual Budget forecast, Phasing, Manage Projects Budget and follow the spent as per the agreed plan
    Work closely with Finance and Award Focal person to preparare Monthly base Budget Monitoring by using the standard template.
  • Prepare and submit Annual as well as Quarter Procuremnet plan for Supply chain Departmnent.

    Job Requirements
  • MPH/MSC/BSC/BA Degree in Public Health/Nursing/Nutrition, Sociology, Economics or other related fields with very strong technical experience in health and nutrition.
  • BSC/BA Degree in Public Health/Nursing/Nutrition, Sociology, Economics or equivalent
  • Recommended a minimum of 4 years of experience working in project coordination, preferably in health and nutrition
  • Experiences in campaign and influencing at the regional level, specially in Afar
  • Project planning, implementation, monitoring, documentation and reporting skills
  • Proven organizational skills with an ability to deliver consistently to deadlines on operational and project responsibilities
  • Very good communication skills, with ability to communicate professionally with a wide range of contacts and stakeholders
  • Networking and coalition building experiences
  • NGOs/CSOs experience
  • Commitment to Save the Children values.

    Desireable
  • Fluent in English and Amharic languages - knowledge of Afar language is advantageous.
