Background:

Cross Border Coordination Mechanisms in East and Southern Africa

The last decade has seen a dramatic increase in the global mobility of people.

The global regular migrant stock had reached 258 million by late 2017.

Migrants from poorer countries, which are often harder to capture in official data, are of particular concern from a development and humanitarian perspective:

Objective and Scope of Work

The successful candidate will be required to produce a 15-20 page long Quick Reference Guide on the cross-border coordination mechanism, outlining the how and why of the approach in an easily accessible and informative way.

This quick reference guide will draw extensively (if not exclusively) on the detailed information captured in the drafted detailed programming reference that is already available.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Consultant:

  • Review of current Guidebook content to determine key information.
  • Extracting key information on the cross-border mechanism and presenting it in an accessible and practicable way.
  • Regular and transparent reporting on progress to RPU, including any delays or challenges as they develop.
  • Save the Children and RPU: (based in
    Pretoria and Nairobi)
  • Assisting with any addition information required not available in the guidebook document.
  • Answering any questions clarifying the exact needs of the document.

    Competencies
  • Experience in creating similar documents, preferably for Save the Children
  • Desirable: Child protection background
  • Prior work on the topic of child migration an advantage
  • Familiarity with Save the Children publications and standard an advantage
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to deliver high quality output on time
