Corporate and Philanthropic Partnerships Manager for ESARO holds responsibility for supporting the country offices across the region to increase their funding from the private sector, foundations, and high net worth individuals.

The role focuses on cultivating relationships, developing appealing and impactful programming pitches, and ultimately generating income from this growing area of potential funding, with an aspiration to grow private funding to 20% of income for programmes in the region.

The role focuses on donors based within the region as well as supporting partnership opportunities generated by Save the Children members.
In order to be successful, you will bring/have:

Essential

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in international development, marketing or other area relevant to the role.

  • At least seven years' experience in charity fundraising, preferably within an international development context focused on corporate and philanthropic partners.

    Evidence of securing significant ($1M+) partnerships.

  • Tenacious self-starter with evidence of proactively and creatively supporting partnership opportunities.

  • Engaging personality, comfortable working with senior stakeholders within Save the Children and potential partners from a range of different backgrounds and cultures.

  • Highly developed networking skills and ability to form productive working relationships with a wide range of internal colleagues and stakeholders (e.g. program technical, awards compliance, finance, program operations).

  • Proven ability to write persuasive, competitive, and compliant narrative proposals for private partners and donors.

  • A high degree of attention to detail and the ability to lead key tasks (e.g. proposal development) to on-time completion under significant pressure.

  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including communicating with impact, influencing, negotiation, and coaching.

  • Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours in the event of major emergencies including travelling at short notice and for extended periods of time.

  • Fluency in English.

    Desired

  • At least two years' managerial experience.

  • Previous experience with capacity building, learning, or training initiatives, ideally in the BD sector.

  • INGO experience and an excellent grasp of operational issues.

  • Experience and understanding of humanitarian and development issues within East and Southern Africa.

  • Swahili and/or other African languages spoken in East and Southern Africa

    Contract duration: 2 years

    Location: ESA Regional Office in Nairobi or another country in ESA region, with preference for South Africa as
    a corporate and donor hub.

    This role will be based in any Country Office with SCI Presence under National Contract terms
